Last week our enrichment program partnered with ReTreeUS to develop a "Food Forest" alongside the BES greenhouse. Students collectively spent approximately 200 working hours preparing the area, digging holes and planting five assorted fruit trees that will provide for our school community over the years. Students gained a hands-on experience in the basics of growing fruit trees. Learning about the environment, sustainable agriculture and the ecological benefits of fruit trees. ReTreeUS provides lesson guidelines that allows our BES staff to continue to expose the students to hands on learning in our food forest as the trees grow. What a wonderful addition to our school!
