WES graduates also seamlessly transition to a wide variety of top secondary schools. We cultivate a sense of wonder, curiosity, and critical thinking through our experiential study trips. Every child studies geology in Southwest Utah in Grade 6, explores the history and culture of Italy in Grade 7, and puts their language skills to the test in France or Spain in Grade 8. Since our founding, WES parents have helped create possibilities for our students. Forty years later, that spirit continues.

Thank you to our Annual Fund Committee for a wonderful week of bringing possibilities to life. From transforming the front of our school with celebratory decorations to handing out “40 Years of Possibilities” notepads at Monday’s carpool, every small contribution added up to make a big impact on our community. Thank you also to Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee Truck for helping us start the week on a high note!

Last week, our Grade 8 students stepped beyond the classroom for a three-day retreat to Caroline Furnace, led by their English teacher and retreat guide, Ms. Hopper.

Students canoed five miles along the Shenandoah River and hiked five miles across Kennedy Peak. A night hike beneath the stars, along with journaling and meditation, encouraged them to slow down and connect with nature. They also explored Caroline Furnace’s history, discovering a few artifacts on the old furnace grounds!

The retreat closed around a campfire, where students shared memories of their years at WES and encouraged one another as they began their final year together.

Today marks the launch of the 2026–2027 WES Annual Fund: Possibilities Every Day.

As we celebrated forty years together this weekend, stories from across generations reminded us of what endures: children known deeply and a community that stays with them long after they leave.

The Annual Fund helps carry that promise forward. It supports the educators who know our children so well, strengthens the programs that spark their curiosity, expands access to a WES education, and makes daily learning experiences possible.

Last year, 80% of current families participated. This year, we hope even more will join us in supporting the possibilities our children experience every day.

What does it look like to surprise an entire school? Something like this! 🎉 🐉

After a week of clues, Wesley made his big entrance today as students and educators came together for a surprise party celebrating 40 years of WES.

Our Dragons kicked off the festivities today, and tomorrow, the celebration continues at our 40th Anniversary Celebration where current and former parents, educators, and friends of WES will gather to celebrate.
