We are a little late sharing this celebration—but for good reason! We've been busy wrapping up an amazing summer of camp and getting ready for another year of after-school programming!

As part of our 25th Anniversary Climb for the Kids campaign, we challenged ourselves to welcome 25 new donors by July 25.

Thanks to your incredible generosity, we didn't just meet that goal—we exceeded it! Together, 33 new donors stepped up to support MKA and helped us unlock a $5,000 challenge gift from our friends at BeFoundation. 🎉

To everyone who donated, shared our campaign, cheered us on, or encouraged others to give: thank you! Your support is a wonderful reminder of what a community can accomplish when we come together for kids.

Thank you for helping us reach this milestone and for believing in MKA. Here's to another 25 years of kids, community, adventure, and memories! 🫶

A BIG MKA THANK YOU to Le Mu Eats! ❤️

All summer long, our friends at Le Mu Eats have been showing up for MKA in the very best way—by keeping our campers well-fed and adding a little extra joy to lunchtime!

When our summer meal plans changed, Elise and Sav asked, “How can we help?” And they truly did just that. They generously donated hot lunch items throughout the summer—chicken fried rice, mac and cheese, pulled pork, nachos, and more—to give our kids an extra option at lunchtime.

It may sound like a simple thing, but those hot meals meant so much to our campers (and to us!). It was such a generous, thoughtful way to support MKA.

Thank you, Elise and Sav, for being so awesome—and for taking such good care of our MKA kids all summer long!

Community makes all the difference. And we are so lucky to have you in ours. 🥰

🌴✨ ONE MORE DAY OF CAMP… BUT TODAY TOTALLY STOLE THE SHOW!

Lola the Camp Flamingo had the campers on a mission this week—HUNTING for points to SLIME a counselor (or two! 😜🟢)

The day kicked off with a town-wide scavenger hunt, followed by a day packed with fun, adventure, silly pictures, surprises, and, of course… TREASURE! 🗺️💰

And just when everyone thought the fun was winding down before heading off to Angevine… SURPRISE! 💦🎈 SLIME AND WATER BALLOONS EVERYWHERE! 😂

The laughter. The smiles. The excitement. The memories. 💕 THIS is what summer camp is all about!

A HUGE shoutout to Brooklyn and Alexa, the masterminds behind today’s EPIC adventure! 👏🔥 You two knocked it out of the park!

One more day, campers… let’s make it one to remember! ☀️🦩💦

What better way to wrap up an amazing week than with a camp-favorite trip to Sebago Lake! 🛶💦

The sun was shining, the kids were smiling, and those boat waves brought ALL the fun! 😎🌊

The crew is now on their way back and is expected to arrive right around normal pickup time. 🚍✨

Fresh from the MKA garden!

Our green-thumbed campers have been helping w**d, water, and care for the garden all summer long, and we're excited to share some of the harvest. We have fresh produce available at pickup today, so stop by and take some home!

Today, my heart was SO full. 🥹💛

From the planning stages of their fundraising journey this summer to watching it all come together today, these kids made us so proud. They smiled, they laughed, they conquered fears, and most importantly… they got to just be KIDS. And honestly, it was the BEST thing to watch. 🥰

Today was packed with fun! They played mini golf ⛳, enjoyed a meal together at a restaurant 🍽️, faced their fears and hopped on the go-karts 🏎️, and wrapped up the day making a splash in the water area.

A HUGE thank you to our MKA families, our incredible community, and everyone near and far who supported these kids throughout their Lemonade Stand ventures. Your generosity helped make a day like today possible, and we are beyond grateful. 🍋

And an extra-special THANK YOU to RideSource Inc for generously donating transportation for today’s trip! We truly can’t thank you enough.
Seeing these kids work hard, dream big, give back, and then celebrate together today was such a beautiful reminder of what it’s all about. 💛

What an amazing week filled with fun competition, new skills, rainy day play, growth, and laughter 🤍⚽️ Our Soccer stars practiced and learned all week, and got to show off their talents on Wednesday in Portland at Memorial Stadium. A huge thank you to our volunteers for lending a hand and sharing your love of the game with the kids - you all rock! 🏟️🏆

As this week wraps up so do this year’s Specialty Camps - thank you to everyone who participated, volunteered, and brought something special to our programs. We wouldn’t be able to do it without you! 💚

☀️ Meet our Assistant Director, Jenn!

Jenn is back for her 5th summer with MKA! She helps oversee both our school-year and summer programs, supporting our team, families, and campers while helping everything run smoothly behind the scenes. We’re so lucky to have her on our team!

🦋What's something you hope every child takes away from their time with us?
I hope MKA is a place where every child feels comfortable being themselves, trying new things, and making lasting friendships. I hope they leave with more confidence, curiosity, and a sense of belonging. I hope our staff feels that MKA is a place where they can grow, build meaningful connections, and know they're making a difference every day.

🏊🏻‍♀️What's a hobby you love outside of work?
Triathlon training! I love having a goal to work toward, and I've learned that progress comes from showing up consistently, even when it feels hard. I enjoy pushing myself outside my comfort zone, and I think there's something really rewarding about taking on a challenge, learning as you go, and seeing what you're capable of. When I'm not training for a race, you'll usually find me skiing at one of our local mountains.

🌎 What does our MKA community mean to you?
Our MKA community is everything. The kids, families, team, volunteers, Board, community partners, and everyone who supports MKA make our programs possible. Without this incredible network, we wouldn't be able to provide all of these amazing opportunities. It truly takes a village, and I'm so grateful to be part of a community that cares so deeply about creating meaningful experiences for children.
