Do you or your child have a fall birthday? (I do, too!) Lots of us do and once school starts, those days close in fast!

And let's not forget all those major (and some minor) "'BER-month holidays (such as, Halloween, Election Day, National Pickle Day, Wear Your Spider-Man Pajamas to Work Day, Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, the Festival of Unmentionable Thoughts Day, Christmas...just to pinpoint a few) ...and then, of course, there are all the group activities you may want to coincide with those holidays... Before you know it, we'll be celebrating Houseplant Appreciation Day again and we'll all be wondering where the time went!!!

I am a sole proprietor and I party (creatively) for a living, but I can only do so much as one person. The calendar fills up quickly (I'm looking at you, November!), and while I will do everything I can to accommodate a celebration, I cannot extend time we don't have and I can't pull a party out of my hat. I need time to plan, order, and organize projects/materials for the best possible shindig!

So...

If there's something coming up for which you'd like to get a group together (including, but not limited to: family, friends, Girl/Boy Scouts, Y-Princesses, Pre-School or daycare field trips, Red Hat Society, Jimothy the Racoon Enthusiasts, Friends of Social Gathering Clubs), don't wait! Red, blue, green, violet, each one has a fixed home on the light spectrum, a wavelength you can measure. Pink and magenta are the only colors that have none. They exist nowhere in the physical world.

When your eye takes in red and blue together, colors that sit on opposite ends of the spectrum, your brain can't chart them as a single wavelength. So it invents one. It stitches the ends of the rainbow together and hands you a color the universe never made, a small piece of magic performed inside your skull.

Other creatures cast their own spells, but never this one. A bee can't see red at all, and where red should be it perceives a color built from ultraviolet and blue that no human eye will ever witness. Some butterflies carry twice the color receptors we do, moving through shades that could never be shown to us, colors with no name in any language we've built.

Every creature closes the spectrum with something of its own making, and each invention belongs to that creature alone. Pink is ours. A private piece of magic the mind performs in silence, every time you look at a sunset or a flower or the inside of a shell, a color that lives nowhere but in the quiet space behind your eyes.

The studio will be closed Friday, July 3rd - July 12th.
