Tea, treats, and high-level text analysis! ๐Ÿตโœจ

Mrs. Willisโ€™s 6th-grade ELA students recently enjoyed a literary tea party while exploring Chapters 3 and 4 of The Castle in the Mist. ๐Ÿฐ

Working collaboratively, students tackled DOK Level 3 and 4 questionsโ€”using textual evidence to make inferences, analyze characters and key events, and defend their thinking. This creative activity gave our Bulldogs a fun, interactive way to dig deeper into the story while building strong critical-thinking and discussion skills.

Way to go, 6th grade! ๐Ÿพ Keep up the incredible work! ๐Ÿ‘

๐ŸŽ Bulldog Tidbit: An Apple-licious Week of Learning! ๐ŸŽ

Miss Emilyโ€™s 3-year-old preschool class had a crunchy, colorful, and hands-on week as they explored all things APPLES! ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ

The week began with a mystery blind box, where students reached inside to feel an apple and used descriptive words like smooth, bumpy, hot, and cold to share what they discovered.

From there, students:
๐ŸŽ Created apples through morning journal drawings
๐ŸŽ Used their fine motor skills to tear paper and build their own apples
๐ŸŽ Explored the different colors of apples
๐ŸŽ Learned about the life cycle and parts of an apple
๐ŸŽ Watched videos about how apples grow and make their way from the farm to the store
๐ŸŽ Participated in apple-themed learning stations aligned with the Missouri Early Learning Standards

And, of course, no apple study would be complete without a taste test! ๐Ÿ˜‹ Students sampled apples of different colors and came to two very important conclusions:

#1 โ€” Red apples were the favorite! โค๏ธ๐ŸŽ
#2 โ€” Sometimes apples have bugs! ๐Ÿ›๐Ÿ˜‚

What a fun week of learning, exploring, creating, and tasting in preschool! We love seeing our youngest Bulldogs learn through hands-on experiences that make learning memorable!

๐Ÿพ Learning is always more fun when you can experience it!

๐ŸŽก Northwest Missouri State Fair
Our FFA members played an important role in making the Northwest Missouri State Fair a success! Members helped operate the livestock barns, pedal pull, and equine show, while also running a concession stand that provided breakfast on the fairgrounds.

๐Ÿด Missouri State Fair
Two South Harrison FFA members exhibited their animals in the horse and swine shows at the Missouri State Fair. Our FFA Officer Team also created an educational booth for the FFA Building and earned a Reserve ribbon for their efforts!

๐ŸŒŠ Officer Retreat
The South Harrison FFA Officer Team traveled to Mozingo Lake for an officer retreat to prepare for the upcoming school year. Members worked on opening and closing ceremonies, parliamentary procedure, and the skills needed to effectively lead and run an FFA meeting.

๐Ÿช Teacher Appreciation Day
FFA members recently delivered a special treat to staff members throughout the district as a way to say thank you for all they do for our students. We appreciate our FFA members taking the time to recognize the teachers and staff who support our students every day!

From the fairgrounds to the classroom and beyond, our South Harrison FFA members are learning, leading, serving, and making a difference!

๐Ÿ“ธ Creating Memories That Last!

Our yearbook students recently traveled with Mr. Frame to the Jostens Yearbook Conference in St. Joseph!

While at the conference, students had the opportunity to create the cover for the upcoming South Harrison yearbook and learn valuable tips and techniques for designing a great yearbook. From storytelling and photography to design and organization, our students are gaining skills that will help them capture the memories and moments that make each school year special.

Weโ€™re excited to see what this talented group creates for the 2026โ€“27 South Harrison Yearbook! ๐Ÿ“–๐Ÿพ
