It was a memorable weekend for Diamond Heist Navy in Shawnee, Kansas! It was a weekend of overcoming one thing after another to eventually hold the trophy over their heads at the end of the tournament! They found themselves down by 4 in the semi finals, but continued to fight and come back to tie it to go to extra innings! They played 3 extra innings before scoring 4 runs in the top of the 8th inning, then holding on, to get to the championship! Their fight didn’t stop there. After the big win, we came out with a slow start in the championship against a team that was ready to go. We had to continue to battle back from behind throughout the whole game. After time had expired we were down by 6 with 3 outs left to play. They had no thought of giving up and scored 6 runs to come back to tie it to go to extra again. In ITB our defense and pitching was locked in, and shut them down without letting the runner score from 2nd. We were then able to move our runner over to third, and eventually win on a LONG sacrifice fly to end the game! The amount of fight, energy and team-first at-bats that were shown in the critical moments is the most impressive part of the weekend! Keep working hard and playing for eachother!
