A Record of Commitment: Promises Made, Promises Kept
The first brochure introduced who I am, my background, and the reasons I chose to serve. The second explained the legal governance framework for school boards and clarified the distinct roles and responsibilities of the superintendent, the board, and the Chief School Financial Officer. This final piece brings those two conversations together by focusing on the promises I made and the promises that were kept.
In 2022, I promised District Five that I would advocate for academic excellence, sound financial stewardship, transparency, and professional accountability. I made that commitment knowing the work would not be easy, but also knowing that our children, our schools, and our city deserve leadership that is willing to stand firm, ask hard questions, and keep the focus where it belongs: on student success.
Although the time available to do this work was cut short, the obligation to serve with courage and integrity remains. We must continue choosing the road that leads to accountability, opportunity, and progress—even when that road is difficult. We must be committed to truth, committed to honesty, committed to standing for our children, and committed to becoming the change we want to see in Bessemer.
Now is the time to keep moving forward. I ask for your continued support, your continued voice, and your continued commitment to the children of District Five and the future of Bessemer City Schools. Together, we can protect the progress that has been made, demand the accountability our students deserve, and continue turning promises into results.
