Celebrating a Bright Spot!

A big shout-out to our amazing 3rd Grade Teacher, Sherri Nyquist! Mrs. Nyquist was recently honored with the Bright Spot Recognition Award for exceptional 3rd Grade reading achievement.

Thanks to her dedication and hard work, our school earned an “Exceptional” rating—a distinction awarded to schools in the top 5% in Michigan for outperforming expected reading proficiency.

We are so proud of Mrs. Nyquist and the incredible work she does for our students every day. Congratulations, Mrs. Nyquist!

We appreciate your patience as we finalize our bus routes for the upcoming school year. Routes will be shared with families by email in the near future. Please make sure we have your current contact information on file so you don’t miss any important transportation updates.

We will also have a transportation representative available during Open House at Washington Elementary to answer questions and help with any transportation concerns you may have.

Please keep in mind that bus stop times may vary greatly, particularly during the first few weeks of school as we monitor ridership and make adjustments to route times as needed. If you haven’t already done so, please download the EZ Arrival app so you can receive notifications and track your child’s bus.

As the school year progresses, please remember to communicate any changes to your student’s transportation plans. To help avoid confusion and ensure everyone has the same information, we ask that transportation changes be submitted in writing.

If you notice an error in your child’s bus schedule or have any questions about transportation, please contact Susan in the Transporation Office at 906-667-0802, ext. 405 or at [email protected]. We’re happy to help!

*****UPDATE***** DUE TO A TIMEFRAME MISCALCULATION, THIS HAS BEEN CANCELED AND WILL BE RESCHEDULED ONCE ALL PARTICIPATING STUDENTS HAVE HAD ENOUGH TIME TO COMPLETE THE DRIVING REQUIREMENTS AND HAVE HAD THEIR PERMIT FOR THE REQUIRED TIME. WE APOLOGIZE FOR THE INCONVENIENCE.

If your student is ready for segment 2, please call the school office (leave a message if there is no answer) or email Ms. Tirpik at: [email protected]. Knowing how many students are planning to attend may give us the opportunity to open spots to students outside of the Bessemer Segment 1 session.
