Last week, Governor Pritzker signed a new law requiring all school districts to have policies banning cell phones during the school day. To help all students stay focused and succeed at school, District 100 will continue to maintain a cell phone-free learning environment through our Phones Off & Away All Day initiative.

Students in all D100 schools are expected to keep their phones turned off and out of sight from the start to the end of the school day.

Phones must be stored in lockers or backpacks, not in pockets, and cannot be used during lunch, passing periods, or in restrooms. If you need to contact your child during the school day, please call the main office.

If a student uses their phone during school hours, it will be confiscated and held in a secure location until the end of the day. In situations involving repeated offenses or gross violations, a parent/guardian will need to pick the phone up from school staff.

Exceptions for medical or individual learning needs will be made in partnership with school staff and families.

The academic success and overall well-being of students is our top priority. Limiting distractions helps students remain focused, engaged, and ready to learn, while also preventing potential issues such as cyberbullying or conflicts between peers related to cell phone use. As we approach the start of the school year, please take a moment to talk with your child about these expectations. If you believe your child may have difficulty following these expectations, we recommend keeping their phone at home during the school day.

La semana pasada, el gobernador Pritzker firmó una nueva ley que exige que todos los distritos escolares cuenten con políticas que prohíban el uso de teléfonos celulares durante la jornada escolar. Con el fin de ayudar a que todos los estudiantes se mantengan enfocados y tengan éxito en la escuela, el Distrito 100 continuará manteniendo un ambiente de aprendizaje libre de teléfonos celulares mediante nuestra iniciativa "Phones Off & Away All Day" (Teléfonos apagados y guardados todo el día).

Se espera que todos los estudiantes de las escuelas del Distrito 100 mantengan sus teléfonos celulares apagados y fuera de la vista desde el inicio hasta el final de la jornada escolar.

Los teléfonos deberán guardarse en los casilleros o en las mochilas, no en los bolsillos, y no podrán utilizarse durante el almuerzo, los cambios de clase ni en los baños. Si necesita comunicarse con su hijo(a) durante el día escolar, le pedimos que llame a la oficina principal de la escuela.

El éxito académico y el bienestar integral de nuestros estudiantes son nuestra máxima prioridad. Reducir las distracciones ayuda a que los estudiantes permanezcan concentrados, participen activamente en su aprendizaje y estén preparados para aprender. Además, esta medida contribuye a prevenir situaciones como el ciberacoso o conflictos entre compañeros relacionados con el uso de teléfonos celulares.

A medida que nos acercamos al inicio del nuevo ciclo escolar, les pedimos que dediquen unos minutos para conversar con su hijo(a) sobre estas expectativas. Dear Piper Families,

We are writing to share some exciting news. Starting Wednesday, June 3, 2026, we will be installing classroom air conditioning and completing roof repairs at Piper. The project is expected to wrap up by mid-August.

To keep everyone safe, the playground and blacktop will be closed for the Summer.

Our first graders had an amazing time on their field trip to the zoo! Students enjoyed exploring, learning about different animals and habitats, and creating wonderful memories together.

A huge thank you to our first grade teachers and all of the parent chaperones for helping make this trip such a fun and successful experience for our students. Your support, time, and care are greatly appreciated!
