On September 28, golfers, friends, and supporters of Hubert J.P. Schoemaker and Melmark came together for a wonderful day at Philadelphia Cricket Club—and, thankfully, the rain held off long enough for us to enjoy it!

For more than two decades, the Schoemaker Classic has brought people together in support of Melmark’s mission, raising more than $8 million to advance research, innovative treatment, professional development, and programs that all help Melmark achieve best outcomes for the individuals and families we serve.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this year’s Classic such a special day, and for continuing to make a difference for Melmark.

We were thrilled to host a dedication of The Modell Training and Professional Development Center on Thursday, October 1st. With some of Lori Beth Modell's friends in attendance, as well as families and staff, Rita Gardner, President and CEO made opening remarks thanking the Modell family for their "Do Something" legacy. Vanessa Tenembaum, President and CEO of the Jeffrey Modell Foundation, was on hand and also made remarks to represent the Modell family.

The Modell family joined the Melmark family in 1975 when Miggy and Paul Krentel accepted Vicki and Fred Modell’s daughter, Lori (or as she was known by her many friends and staff members at Melmark, LB), to the Melmark School. Melmark was LB’s home for over 50 years, and her parents were generous supporters all of that time, contributing well over $1.5M for Melmark’s most important initiatives. Even after Vicki's passing in 2023 and LB's shortly thereafter in 2024, Fred continued the family’s support, most recently with an outstanding $500K commitment to Melmark’s Mission First Endowment Fund. To honor that support and the entire Modell family—Fred, Vicki, their late son Jeffrey, and LB—Melmark is proud to dedicate this major campus space in their name.

We thank all who came to thank a family who has spent 50 years supporting every individual we serve and whose most recent gift will ensure Melmark is here to serve for generations to come.
