Parents—
As the new school year approaches, we would like to remind families of our attendance and truancy procedures. Regular attendance is essential for student success. The limit of six unexcused absences or six unexcused tardies per semester remains in effect, and the district's attendance and truancy procedures will continue to be followed throughout the school year.
Please review the following attendance expectations and procedures:
Students are expected to be in their homeroom classroom by the 7:25 a.m. bell.
Students arriving between 7:26 a.m. and 7:40 a.m. will be marked tardy to school.
Parent notes may excuse no more than five (5) sick days during the school year.
A student may be absent for up to three (3) days per school year for mental health reasons without a doctor's excuse, in accordance with district policy.
The district's truancy procedures are as follows:
3 unexcused absences or 3 unexcused tardies: A district JTEXT notification will be sent to the parent/guardian, and the school will schedule a meeting with the parent/guardian.
5 unexcused absences or 5 unexcused tardies: A district JTEXT notification will be sent to the parent/guardian, and a referral to the Families in Need of Services (FINS) program will be submitted.
7 unexcused absences or 7 unexcused tardies: A district JTEXT notification will be sent to the parent/guardian, and the Truancy Support Program (TSP) will schedule a truancy hearing.
We appreciate your partnership in ensuring your child attends school every day and arrives on time. Consistent attendance is one of the strongest predictors of student success. If your family is experiencing circumstances that may affect your child's attendance, please contact the school so we can work together to provide the appropriate support.
