Thompson School District is pleased to present a draft version of The Thompson Horizon, our new strategic plan that is steering us toward our future as the "Destination School District." Through this work, we are intentionally designing great places to learn, great places to work, and great places to succeed.

Before the Board of Education votes to adopt the plan, we want to hear from students, families, staff, and community members. Tell us what resonates, what is missing, and what you would change. To view the information and provide feedback, please visit the Thompson Horizon section on our district website.
Comment period closes Monday, August 31.

Two-Hour Early Release TOMORROW, FRIDAY, AUGUST 21, Due to Heat

Good Afternoon, Families:
The current hot weather that we are experiencing within our community has had a significant impact on our district and many of our school buildings. While approximately half of the district's schools are fully air-conditioned, the remaining buildings do not have air conditioning within their classrooms and only have limited air conditioned spaces within the buildings.

Weather services are forecasting that we will experience significantly warm weather tomorrow. We believe that the temperature will create conditions in many of our buildings that will be quite difficult for students and staff.

➡️ As a result, please be aware that all Thompson School District schools will release two hours early tomorrow, Friday, August 21. To determine the release time, families should subtract two hours from the school's normal release time. Bus pick-up will be two hours sooner than the normal pick-up time. Please note that afternoon preschool classes will not be held. ⬅️

Athletic teams will continue with their current schedule and will follow the standards that are set by the Colorado High School Activities Association. Families who participate in after-school programming with the Boys and Girls Club and YMCA of Northern Colorado should reach out to their aftercare provider for information about service levels that are available.

We understand that this decision will create some significant schedule adjustments for many of our families. However, we do believe that this early release schedule will provide some much-needed relief and beneficial assistance for our students and staff.

Thank you very much for your continued support of our district community.

Sincerely,
Thompson School District

Meet the Class of 2030!

Today was all about new beginnings as we welcomed our freshman class to Berthoud High School!

Our Student Council, peer support counselors, and cheerleaders members were out helping our newest Spartans get settled ... giving tours, answering questions, helping students find their classrooms, and making sure everyone felt welcome.

There were lots of smiles, a few “Where am I supposed to go?” moments 😉, and plenty of excitement for the year ahead.

The first day is just the beginning, and we can't wait to see what this class will accomplish!

Welcome to BHS, Class of 2030! Your Spartan story starts here. 🛡️

📘 Focused on Learning. Connected When It Matters. 📕
Thompson School District’s cell phone and personal technology device policy is designed to foster a supportive educational environment with fewer distractions for students. In general, once students enter a school building, their personal technology devices—including cell phones, smartwatches, tablets, laptops, cameras, and similar devices—must be put away and inaccessible unless a specific exception applies. Students at every grade level may only use personal devices when a teacher specifically authorizes them for instructional purposes or when required by an IEP, Section 504 Plan, medical need or emergency.

High Schools
Students may use their devices before and after school and during lunch, subject to school-specific rules. However, they may not use them in hallways during passing periods.

More Engagement. Fewer Distractions.
Through this policy, district students will engage in an environment that is best suited to maximize learning and support. Benefits include:
➡️ Improved student learning and academic performance
➡️ A safer, more focused learning environment
➡️ Improved student well-being and social interaction

More information is located on the district’s Cell Phone and Personal Device Policy webpage: https://www.tsd.org/cellphones

If you have any questions, please contact your school’s front desk.
Thank you for your support and partnership.
