Take advantage of today’s no-school day to put the finishing touches on your science fair project proposal!

Think you’ve got an idea worth testing? Prove it.
Build something. Challenge an assumption. Solve a problem. Test an idea nobody else has bothered to test.

The 14th Annual Thompson School District Science Fair is open to students in grades 6–12 — and we’re looking for students ready to do more than just talk about big ideas.

🏆 Gift cards (courtesy of Thompson Education Foundation) + awards
🚀 Top projects may advance to regional and state competition
💰 Higher-level competitions can open doors to prize money, scholarships and other opportunities

This isn’t about making a poster and calling it science.
It’s about taking on a real problem.
Testing your idea. Pushing it further. Proving what works.
And creating something strong enough to stand out, compete, and make an impact.

So here’s the challenge: What can YOU discover, improve, invent or prove?

From calling home on the payphone to classic Y2K denim, early morning farm chores before 1st period, and cruising into the BHS parking lot—life at Berthoud High was a whole vibe at the turn of the millennium!

Our AP Human Geography students swapped graph paper for sidewalk chalk to map out population pyramids! They analyzed age-sex demographics, fertility rates, and global migration trends for countries around the world—combining high-level analytical thinking with a little fresh air.

Our Freshman Seminar classes put their engineering skills to the test with an epic paper airplane contest launched right from the balcony! After some high-flying competition, the grand prize launch came from Cody Hofrock's class! 🏆🎉

📺 We interrupt your regularly scheduled program to bring you... FLAT OUT! 🎨✂️

Our Sculpture 1 students took 3D design to a whole new dimension—literally! For their "Flat Out" cardboard project, students transformed 2D line work and comic-book style shading into incredible, life-sized 3D sculptures.

From vintage typewriters and guitars to cameras, jukeboxes, and retro appliances, every piece uses bold black outlines and clever highlights to pop like a page right out of a graphic novel!

📍 Come check them out in person! These masterpieces are now on display in Studio 850 in the library.

Communication, focus, and a whole lot of teamwork! 🏓⚡️

Freshman Seminar took over the hallway for a high-stakes partner challenge! Students worked together to toss and catch a ping pong ball back and forth using plastic cups—testing their patience, strategy, and coordination.

"All hail King George III!" 👑📜🇬🇧

History came to life in Mrs. Steele’s Social Studies class during an epic Revolutionary War debate!

Students researched key historical figures to debate major colonial events—all under the watchful eye of Mrs. Steele, who wore full royal robes, a crown, and a scepter while requesting to be addressed as "Your Majesty." 👑

To top it off, Her Majesty graciously provided "Fish & Chips" for the court (a.k.a. Goldfish crackers and Doritos! 🐟🧀).

Incredible job by our students for bringing deep research, sharp debate skills, and serious character commitment to class! 👏
