In Art, groups brainstormed as may items they could remember from the art room in a timed session, and yesterday 8th graders played "Back to Back" where one partner is the illustrator, and the other has to describe an object they are holding without telling what it is. Students then swap roles.

6th grade history had a great start to school. Mrs. Summers and her classes started out thinking about what makes a good teammate and then classmate. Kids threw out their ideas and she wrote them on the whiteboard. Students then put the most important thing to them - positive and negative. Then they got up and read what their friends found important. If they agreed- they put their initials. So yes, they wrote all over the desks and loved it. They also got to tell Mrs. Summers their expectations for her. From there they wrote a class constitution - everybody signed it. They had total buy in about how they wanted their classroom to run!

Mrs. Balas' classes participated in "Are You Ready for Middle School" sentence stem rotations. They were to complete the sentences and then share with their small groups. At the end they had to create a summary sentence of what their peers shared regarding each stem.
