One Sunday morning, we will begin our Fall Growth Classes. This is what was often called Sunday School, and it used to have the highest attendance in many Baptist churches. People would come for Sunday School and leave before the morning service. I can remember discussions about how to get people to stay. It is the opposite today. The question is: how do I get our church family, who faithfully attend the morning service, to come an hour earlier and join our Growth Classes? It is certainly not that we don't need to learn. We definitely do. I also know there are some internal logistical challenges. We would benefit from more and broader children's classes. We have already added one class to help. It is a 5th-12th grade class. Lord willing, we will have enough students that we can turn that into a teen class and add a 4-6th grade class. Tomorrow, Pastor Moore will teach the class, but a new teacher will take over soon.
On Sunday, we will begin our new Growth Classes, but in my class (families), we will spend some time getting organized and making a plan. The families class is for anyone who still has children in the home, but it is not a parenting class. Instead, we'll study Ephesians from the book Created for His Glory. We're studying Ephesians because it has the classic passages on family (ch. 5), but the four chapters before lay vital groundwork. You may be failing to implement the biblical mandates for marriage and family because you are missing something. Our study will help you.
We have our regular Sunday schedule. Don't forget to prioritize our prayer time. Without God's power and blessing, we will spin our wheels. I greatly appreciate the faithful group that comes at 9:00 to pray.
Note: The College and Career Class will meet in the auditorium this Sunday. Your class will begin next Sunday.
