The 244th Anniversary of the Battle of Blue Licks: Memorial Weekend will soon be upon us! See below for what we have planned thus far. Updates to the schedule will come as we continue to confirm. All programming is free except where otherwise noted. See you there!
Friday, August 14th:
($$) 10 a.m. – Birds of Kentucky: Their relationship to the land and The Settlers of History with Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Educator Amanda Clough – Worthing Lodge: $5 for presentation and accompanying hike guided (meet in lodge lobby) @ Noon Down the Licking River Trail
2:00 p.m. – Flint Knapping Demo w/Jeff Tyree – Museum Area
3:00 p.m. – SAR Fife/Drum Presentation – Hunter Shelter
4:30 p.m. – CAR/DAR Children’s Display Appreciation Ceremony – Pioneer Museum
5:30 p.m. – Battle of Blue Licks Presentation w/Matt Dollar – Worthington Lodge
6:30 p.m. – Thunder on the Frontier: A Writer’s Perspective on Research w/Author Charles Bishop II – Worthington Lodge
9 p.m. – Smore Program (Meet in lodge lobby) – Fire Pit
Saturday, August 15th:
10 a.m. – Sons of the American Revolution Monument Ceremony – Monument Area
11:30 a.m. – Little Known Facts on Blue Licks History with Paula Hunter – Worthington Lodge
Noon – Old Fashioned Soup Beans – Pioneer Encampment
1:30 p.m. – Reading of Declaration – Museum Area
2 p.m. – 18th Century Jewelry w/Jennifer Lynn – Worthington Lodge
3 p.m. – Flint Knapping Demo – Museum Area
4 p.m. – More Details to Come
4:55 p.m. – Singing of National Anthem – Historic Battlefield
5 p.m. – Battle Re-enactment - Historic Battlefield
5:45 p.m. – Running of the Gauntlet w/Naturalist Matthew Dollar – Historic Battlefield
($$) 7:00 p.m. – Soap Making with Local Artisan Robin Dollar – Worthington Lodge: $15 – Space limited to 15. Two bars of handmade soap will be given for each participant. Please email [email protected] for spot availability.
9 p.m. Fire Pit Program – Fire Pit (meet in lobby)
Sunday, August 16th
10 a.m. - Frontier Food with SAR Members John Doss and Scott Giltner – Hunter Shelter
11 a.m. – Long Rifle Demonstration– Museum Area
11:30 a.m. – Genealogy w/Jennifer Lynn – Worthington Lodge
1 p.m. – More Details to Come
Atlatl, Tomahawk, Saw Cutting, and Kid’s Crafts will be offered at the Pioneer Encampment area, and those times will be given in the coming weeks or grab a brochure when you arrive. Please be aware of directional signs and staff members providing directions while entering the park! See ya there!
