New Faculty Publication!

Congratulations to Dr. Daniel Gonzalez-Socoloske, Professor of Biology at Andrews University, on the publication of an important new peer-reviewed paper in ZooKeys!

Taxonomy, Natural History, and Conservation of the Mammals of Honduras is the culmination of several years of collaborative research by an international team of scientists. This comprehensive review provides the most up-to-date account of Honduras' mammal fauna, documenting 227 verified native mammal species across 146 genera and 42 families, while identifying 28 additional species that may yet be confirmed in the country.

The publication synthesizes decades of research on the distribution, ecology, natural history, and conservation of Honduran mammals, while also incorporating new information on bat ectoparasites, acoustic vocalizations, and emerging conservation challenges. The authors hope this work will serve as the definitive baseline for future mammal research and conservation efforts in Honduras.
