Kailyn Burgess just got accepted to Ohio Technical College and will train in their welding and fabrication program! They have a 4 day school week and have a 25:1 student-instructor ratio and train in a 500,000+ sq ft facility. Students in this program work while they’re trained and can obtain career placement following program completion.

As you can tell Kailyn is very excited about this opportunity and what it could do for her welding career moving forward.

Several of our students from our Berrien Springs CTE, and Discovery Education programs had the opportunity to attend the Plumbers & Pipefitters Union Local 172 this past Friday. Students were able rub elbows with union and industry members who took the time to share their experience and expertise with our students in a hands on fashion. Students were introduced to several career options in high demand, high wage careers that also happen to be AI proof! Many of our students walked away with a solid experience that may just impact their future careeer and educational journey.

Special shout out to Devonte’ Jones (Workforce Coordinator)and Jennifer Moore (HS Counselor) for making this happen for our ☘️ students 👊!

Check out Melina’s beautiful work of art! It’s only week four of class but she has really taken a liking to the course and instructor Kirk Shafer. Melina is a junior at Berrien Springs High School enrolled in Brandywine High School’s Woodworking CTE course. This course is open to all Berrien County juniors and seniors. If you or someone you know may be interested in this course or another CTE related course, connect with your high school counselor or CTE Director.

The Nile’s PHCA (professional health careers academy) students were working towards their infant CPR certification today. Not only is this beneficial knowledge and skills to have in general but our students can use this certification and others they’ll earn this year to help set them apart from their competition on their way towards seeking employment or admission in the near future along their EDP journey! Thanks to the instructors and industry members that make these opportunities possible and thanks to our students for being ROCK ☘️ stars! 👏

Our ☘️ Berrien Springs Public Safety courses ( Firefighting, EMT, Corrections, Law Enforcement, 911 Telecommunicator) conducted their annual water safety exercise this past Friday with the help of some key volunteers (Berrien County Sheriff Department, Niles Township and City Fire, Medic 1 Ambulance and Oronoko Police department).

All students did a phenomenal job conducting this exercise exhibiting great teamwork, communication and focus. What a great way for students to get hands on experience and practice led by industry professionals. Thank you parents, school personnel and transportation gurus for making this event possible 👏!

Brok Ausland is a junior at Berrien Springs high school enrolled in our Construction Trades course. Brock appreciates the opportunity to get his hands dirty, and the challenge of jumping into a class project as a leader amongst his peers. He plans to continue using the knowledge and skills he has gained with his CTE experience down the road by being able to help friends and family with similar build and construction projects.

Our CTE classes are up and running 👊. Mr. Jackson’s Construction Trades students are learning to frame subfloors in the shop today.

Did you know that students taking our Construction Trades course receive a MARC Level II pre-apprenticeship certificate of completion granting students an interview with the Carpenters and Millwrights union as well as up to 9 months of apprenticeship training credit!
