🧩 Letter Tile Challenge! 🧩

Students started with the word “SYLVESTER” and worked as a team to build as many school-related words as they could using letter tiles. The challenge? Use their creativity and teamwork to come up with as many words as possible!

At the end, the team with the fewest tiles left was the winner and took home a prize! 🏆🎉

What a fun way to practice teamwork, vocabulary, and a little friendly competition! 🍀💚

📚🍀First Day of School – August 31st!🍀📚

We are so excited to welcome our students back for the first day of school on Monday, August 31st! It is a half day, dismissal is at noon.

To help make drop-off run as smoothly as possible, we ask that families give their hugs and kisses at home and remain in their vehicles during drop-off. 💚

🚗 Please do not get out of your car during drop-off. We will have all staff on hand and ready to help direct students to their teachers!

📍All students will meet their teachers on the Sylvester Playground after they are dropped off either by bus, parent drop off, or walkers.

Please note that the front office will be closed until 8:50 AM as our office staff will be outside helping students and families during arrival.

Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us make the first day a smooth and successful one! We can't wait to see everyone on August 31st! 💚☘️

🎉 Back to School Night at Sylvester! 🎉

We were so happy to connect with so many of our Sylvester families during Back to School Night! 💚🍀 It was wonderful to see everyone and kick off another great school year together.

If you were unable to make it, please watch your mail for a green envelope containing important information that will need to be completed and returned to your student’s teacher.

📧 On Thursday, an email will also be sent out with information about your student’s teacher.

Dear Sylvester Families, Guardians and Students,

We hope you have been enjoying a wonderful summer! As we prepare to begin an exciting new school year, we are thrilled to welcome both returning and new Shamrocks to our Sylvester Elementary community.

We are also excited to introduce our new school leadership team. My name is Alli Hoskins, and I will be Sylvester's new Principal and Cassie King will be our new Assistant Principal. We're honored to serve the Sylvester community and look forward to partnering with you to make this a year filled with learning, growth, and memorable experiences for every student.

As many of you know, our building continues to undergo exciting improvements. Due to the tight construction completion schedule, we have decided to celebrate the start of the school year with a Meet the Teacher Ice Cream Social on our Sylvester playground rather than our traditional Parent Open House. We hope this relaxed outdoor event gives families an opportunity to connect, meet teachers, and celebrate the beginning of a wonderful school year together—with plenty of ice cream!

Meet the Teacher Ice Cream Social

When: Wednesday, August 26, 2026
Time: 5:30–7:00 p.m.
Where: Sylvester Elementary Playground
What to Expect

Families will learn their child’s teacher assignment at the event.
Meet your child’s teacher and enjoy an evening of ice cream and community. Complete any necessary back-to-school paperwork, including transportation, food allergy and free/reduced lunch forms.

Teachers may share important classroom information to help students and families prepare for the first day of school.

Please note that students should not bring school supplies to this event. Information about when and how to bring supplies will be shared separately.

We have intentionally scheduled this event during the same timeframe as Mars Elementary’s Open House event to make it more convenient for families with children attending both schools.

If inclement weather occurs, we will communicate our alternate plan.

We can’t wait to welcome you, reconnect with familiar faces, and meet the newest members of our Sylvester family. Thank you for your partnership and support—we are looking forward to an amazing school year together!

If your student is attending Summer School this summer, here is information to sign up for the Right at School Camp program. Please note that only students who are registered for Summer School are eligible to attend the camp.
