Whole Child Consultant, Abbie Benfield, was recently honored as the 🌟 Community Member of the Year 🌟 by the Children's Advocacy Center of Southwest Michigan!

Each year, the Children's Advocacy Center of Southwest Michigan's staff nominate and vote for individuals who have been the most instrumental in the center's success and in supporting local children. Abbie’s dedication truly shines through in everything she does, and it’s wonderful to see her hard work recognized by such a vital organization.

Big news for Berrien County students! 📚 103 educators completed a full-day training on the UFLI Word Origins program. This new research-backed curriculum helps students read bigger words more easily, understand complex vocabulary in subjects like science and math, and become much more confident spellers.

We are incredibly proud of our educators for their dedication to professional growth and cannot wait to see our students thrive this year!

Four of our brilliant Berrien RESA Math & Science Center students are presenting their groundbreaking glioblastoma (brain cancer) research at the national NCSS Student Leadership & Research Conference!

Under the mentorship of biology teacher Dr. Denise Smith, Abigail & Claire DevlescHoward (Rising Seniors), Ellio Mazumder & Kayden Eiker (Rising Sophomores) are tackling college-level oncology.

A thriving regional economy requires a sustainable talent pipeline—and that pipeline begins in our K-12 classrooms. Addressing the educator shortage isn't just a school issue; it’s a workforce and economic imperative for Michigan businesses.

For those new to our work, Talent Together is an innovative partnership model solving the teacher shortage by expanding state-certified apprenticeship pathways, allowing aspiring educators to earn while they learn.

This October, we are hosting the inaugural Educator Workforce Conference: Harvesting Teacher Talent: From Policy to Practice in Ann Arbor, MI.

We are explicitly inviting community builders, business executives, and workforce development leaders to join education innovators and policymakers at the table.

Yesterday, we recognized the unsung efforts of community members who made a tremendous impact in our classrooms. The entities and individuals being recognized are nominated by Berrien RESA staff and scored against a rubric that measures their longstanding commitment to supporting education. The recipients are honored not only in front of all of Berrien RESA’s employees during its annual Closing Day celebration, but their names are also engraved on a sculpture housed at the Administrative Center, affectionately called the “Partnership Tree”.
