✨Children are naturally full of wonder.✨

A tiny mushroom 🍄‍🟫 pushing through the soil. The intricate pattern of a leaf 🍁 . A bird 🐦 calling from somewhere high in the trees. A caterpillar 🐛 discovered beneath a log. Things we might walk past without a second thought can stop a child completely in their tracks.

And in those moments of wonder 💭 , there is an opportunity for something deeper.

At AMI Forest School, we believe nature 🌿 is more than a beautiful setting for education—it is one of the places children can encounter the fingerprints of their Creator.

When children have the time to slow down, observe, explore, and ask questions about the world around them, we can point their curiosity back to the One who made it.

The more closely we study creation, the more reasons we find to stand in awe of the Creator. 🌲🤍

🌿“What does a Forest School education actually look like?” 🤔 - It’s a question we love answering—because Forest School is about so much more than simply taking learning outside.

➡️At AMI Forest School, we believe children thrive when education nurtures the whole child.

That means strong academics AND room to explore. 🧭
Movement AND meaningful learning. 📖
Challenge AND support. 💪🏻
Curiosity AND structure. 🧠
Time to play, discover, wonder, problem-solve, create, and grow.

And woven through it all is our desire for children to know their Creator 🕊️ more deeply through the incredible world He has made. 🤍

These five pillars represent so much of what we hope to cultivate in our students:
🌱 Whole-child development
✝️ Christ-centered learning
📖 Strong academics + active learning
💪🏻 Confidence, resilience & character
🏃🏻‍♀️ Healthy bodies + 🧠 ready minds

We aren’t simply preparing children to PERFORM well in school. We want to help raise capable, curious, resilient young people who know how to think, learn, persevere, serve, and recognize God’s hand in the world around them. 🤍

This is education with room to move, room to wonder, and room to grow. ✨

Come experience AMI Forest School for yourself. 🌲

🌿When children have opportunities to move their bodies, explore, climb, build, observe, create, and simply breathe fresh air 💨, they’re doing much more than “playing outside.” They’re practicing problem-solving🤔. Building confidence 💪🏻. Developing curiosity🧐. Learning to navigate challenges. And giving their minds🧠 and bodies 🏃🏻‍♀️ opportunities to REGULATE.

➡️And when children are regulated, engaged, and curious, they are better prepared to LEARN. 🤍

That’s one of the beautiful things about 🌲Forest School: movement, play, exploration, and academics don’t have to compete with one another. They work TOGETHER.

We believe children were made to move, wonder, explore, and discover—and sometimes the very best classroom has no walls. 🌲🍂

🌿 Teacher Feature: Madelyn Bacchiocchi - Grades 3-4 Teacher

Madelyn Bacchiocchi initially developed a passion for science 🔬 , education 📖, and hands-on learning 🧐 through earning a bachelor’s degree in Biology 🌳 with minors in Chemistry 🧪 and Nutrition Science 🍎 . She continued her education at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland, earning a Master’s degree in 💀 Human Anatomy.

Upon returning to Michigan, Madelyn joined a local hospital 🏥 , where she spent ten years in the education department as a Simulation Specialist, designing and facilitating immersive learning experiences that helped train physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals 🩺 . Through this work, she developed expertise in experiential learning—an educational approach that engages learners through active participation, problem-solving, and real-world application. Throughout that time, she also taught Anatomy and Physiology to nursing students at local colleges.
Alongside her work in healthcare and education, Madelyn owned and operated a custom baking business 🎂 for nine years, developing strong skills in creativity, organization, communication, and small business management. She also started a nonprofit profit organization to help encourage a love and excitement for literature 📚 in the young minds of her community.

While volunteering at Cottage Forest School, Madelyn discovered a passion for forest school education 🌲 and felt God leading her toward elementary education. She has since earned both her Forest School Teacher Certification and Forest School Director Certification, further equipping her to guide children through meaningful outdoor learning experiences.

Outside the classroom, she enjoys spending time with her family, reading, baking, cooking, gardening, and creating art. Madelyn is grateful to serve at AMI Forest School, where she strives to cultivate curious minds, joyful hearts, and a meaningful appreciation for God’s creation. 🌿
