Sow Well Tots is an intimate, home-based, alternative, early childhood program newly relocated to Bernardston, Massachusetts. We serve wholesome, organic, home-cooked, vegetarian meals (morning snack, lunch and afternoon snack) and offer natural, open-ended toys, lots of outdoor nature exploration and provide infants with plenty of floor time for self-initiated development. Sow Well Tots provides high quality care in a safe, nurturing home environment with a child-driven rhythm. This means we will never interrupt the natural imaginative flow in order to force our own agenda. We tailor our daily routine to fit the developmental needs of all the children. We believe a well nurtured child in play will be better able to thrive as a student when the time for structured learning presents itself. Please note: if you are looking for a highly academic-driven curriculum for your child Sow Well Tots is not the place for you and your family. Our focus will be to prolong a vivid, imaginary, child-like way of being.

🍂 Happy Autumn!

 I’m excited to offer these fall workshops for both children and adults thru Dec 2026. 

🌰 BLack Walnut Weekend
Oct 17 & 18
Saturday/ Sunday 10AM - 2PM
 
🍂 During this workshop we will experiment with the various gifts of the BLK walnut. Come learn how to process BLK walnut for plant dye, jewelry and medicine making

🪡 Handwork After School Ages 8-12
9 wk Series Oct 14 - Dec 16
Wednesdays 3:30 - 5:30PM

🍂 During these two hour, weekly sessions your child will learn plant dying, embroidery, hand sewing and finger weaving. 

🧵Adult Handwork
6 wk Series Oct 25 - Dec 20
Sundays 2PM - 4PM
 
🍂 During this series we will work together using plant dye, embroidery and hand sewing to complete a project. Working on your project at home will also be encouraged.

Teaching w/ Meaning: A Pan-African Experience for Education,  Recap Part 1 - Morning Meal Praxis: FIRE & FOOD 

We began daily with a review of the importance of a strong rhythm (repetition) and relationship with fire. We discussed how to mentally and physically prepare (self-regulate) ourselves as educators — as well as support the children with our regulation — using songs and nature’s tactile experience (collecting and prepping fire materials) to ground and create a safe container. 

We also:

- Prepared easy-to-manage meals over an outdoor fire

- Reviewed regulations

- Discussed fire safety precautions

- Set up a dish station
