Congratulations to Business Academy scholars on new certifications earned at the end of the year!

Mosheh passed Adobe Premiere Pro and got a recognition for Creativity & Entrepreneurship, due to having previously passed Entrepreneurship & Small Business exam.

Jenna passed Microsoft Office Specialist Excel 365, MOS Word 365, and iC3 Digital Literacy.

Ethan, Sophia, and Kierra each successfully completed the CPR/First Aid course and passed their hands-on skill assessment to earn that credential.

Today is our final big day of conferencing and Nashville-ing at the 2026 Business Professionals of America National Leadership Conference. It has been a full few days of experiences, interactions, events, and excursions.

We will soon begin our day at the Certification Lab (third time visiting there), taking computerized tests to see if we can earn some new credentials. Next we will visit the National Showcase of Virtual Events, which is set up in similar manner to a trade show, where each of the top ten contestants/teams in the various virtual events set up a display table about their project and are there to interact, demonstrate, promote, and answer questions. Attendees have the opportunity to cast votes for the projects they found to be outstanding.

Next, we will take the downtown shuttle into Nashville and walk along the Cumberland River on our way to the well-known Farmers’ Market for lunch and then the Tennessee State Museum.
When we return to the Ga***rd Opryland, we’ll take one last walk over to Opry Mills Mall.

In the evening it will be time for the Awards Ceremony which will close out the conference. I have also shared some pin-trading photos. That, and the QR Code Scavenger Hunt, have added a fun interactive component that my students took FULL advantage of.

We also attended several Leadership Passport workshops. Sam Demma was the keynote speaker and gave an engaging and heartfelt/relatable message about the fact that every person carries around a big invisible backpack full of their experiences, beliefs, challenges, hardships, etc… and it os important to keep in mind that we don’t always know what others are carrying around in their backpacks that may explain why they are the way they are or view the world the way they do.

15 years as a BPA advisor! What a journey it has been… and this year, our chapter’s efforts culminate in the BPA National Leadership Conference in Nashville. This year’s theme is Amplify Your Impact.

Mosheh will be competing in Advanced Accounting and Jenna will be competing in Basic Office Systems & Procedures. They will also attend workshops, take certification exams, and take open tests.

We have had a BIG travel and settling in day and enjoyed supper at Aquarium Restaurant, followed by some shopping at Opry Mills. About 12,000 steps for me today.

On Tuesday, April 28th, the Business Academy at East Holmes is having an open house for local families to visit. This career tech program is housed at the Holmes Center for the Arts. It has been in the area for 35 years, in various locations. We will be welcoming visitors to stop in between 5:30-7:30.

I was proud of these students before today’s BPA State Leadership Conference awards ceremony, but now I have reason to celebrate with them, as we learned the results of their competitive events.

Congrats to Jenna for earning 4th place in Basic Office Systems and Procedures and a qualifying spot to advance to the 2026 BPA National Leadership Conference in Nashville!

Congrats to Mosheh for earning 7th place in Advanced Accounting and a qualifying spot to advance to nationals as well. Additionally, Mosheh received a plaque for placing 3rd in Parliamentary Procedure Concepts, an open event.

We celebrated with a hearty lunch in German Village, a little fun browsing at The Book Loft, and a quick stop for some Graeter’s ice cream on the way back to Berlin.

I am SO glad we made the drive yesterday to Columbus for BPA state leadership conference. We got settled in, got a good supper, and walked through the venue to locate competition and meeting rooms. We even had time to play Ticket to Ride and a few rounds of Dutch Blitz before heading back to our rooms for a good night’s sleep before competition day. This morning, we braved the snow and cold to walk over to Sunny Street Cafe, and it was worth it! Deee-lish! Students seem calm and composed. They have prepared well. We are looking forward to putting our best foot forward today. We appreciate everyone’s good thoughts for all of the students, advisors, event organizers, volunteers, and facility staff that things go as smoothly as possible, given the added stress of weather conditions and inevitable problem-solving. May patience, grace, fairness, and goodwill abound.

Results are in and the East Holmes Business Academy Parliamentary Procedure Team placed fourth at nationals, which is our second highest ranking ever in this event. This is incredible, considering that the team only had one returning member from last year and all the other students were new to the team. We are very happy with these results. Also, huge congrats to our team president Marissa for placing in the top ten in the Parliamentary Procedure Concepts event as well.
