🎾 Exciting Tennis News: Courtbloom is Coming to Berlin! 🎾

We are thrilled to announce that Courtbloom will be visiting our PE classes on Tuesday, October 20th! Following their visit, they will be hosting their very first after-school tennis lesson from 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM in the old gym. Lessons will be held every Tuesday!

Best of all, this program is 100% FREE for students! Here is how your child can get involved:

🌟 For Students Enrolled in the After School Program (ASP):
• Students can attend right after school with parent permission and registration.
• How to register: The quickest way is online through Courtbloom (see the attached flyer).
• Prefer paper? We have paper applications available! Please contact Judy Arsenault for a copy, and we will make sure it gets processed.

🌟 For Students NOT Enrolled in ASP:

• All students are welcome and eligible to participate!
• How to register: Simply register directly online by visiting Courtbloom.org and selecting the Berlin site.

Online registration is the fastest way to secure a spot. We can’t wait to see our students on the court!

Weekly Recap October 16, 2026

Dear BES Families:

📚 For a short week, it was a busy one!

✨ Tuesday kicked off our Scholastic Book Fair week with a Family Night and a Title I Lego event. We had a great turnout for both events, and families who signed up for the Lego event enjoyed some delicious macaroni and cheese!

🏆 This year, our Book Fair reached record sales! The proceeds will fund essential school items, such as microphones for the music program and supplies for our Unified Arts classes. A huge thank you to all the families who contributed! Special thanks to Mia Dalphonse and Eli Clemmer for organizing the event. Check out Mia with the tables she set up in the gym for us!

⚽ BES’ soccer playoffs were held on Wednesday afternoon with a fantastic turnout!

Please note: Information about our annual Veterans Day ceremony (held on November 10th from 9:00–9:30 AM) is being sent home with students today. More information about the ceremony will be forthcoming. Please be sure to save the date!

🔮 Looking ahead to next week:
• 🏫 PTO Meeting: October 20th at 3:00 PM in the Library.

• 🎾 Courtbloom Tennis Workshop: Our first workshop runs October 20th from 4:00–5:00 PM through the ASP program (for registered students). Courtbloom will also visit PE classes that day to introduce the foundations of tennis to all students! More information regarding sign-ups and participation for families outside the Berlin community will be shared soon. We are thrilled to welcome Courtbloom to our school!

Attention all BES Kindergarten Families:

Kindergarten students will be receiving a school Mountie shirt from the Berlin Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). This shirt can be worn on school designated spirit days or any day that they want to show their school spirit!

Free Tennis Opportunity for BES Students!

🎾 Exciting News! CourtBloom is coming to BES and our After School Program (ASP)!

We are thrilled to bring CourtBloom directly to our students!

What is CourtBloom?

CourtBloom Community, Inc. is a wonderful youth development nonprofit that introduces children to tennis and physical activity through structured, high-energy, and beginner-friendly sessions. Led by certified coaches, the program focuses on building confidence, coordination, and teamwork in a highly supportive, inclusive environment. Best of all, they use age-appropriate equipment and provide rackets for all kids to borrow—no experience or gear required!

How to Sign Up:

Courtbloom will be offering Tennis lessons throughout the year during ASP from 4:00-5:00 PM on the following dates: October 20, December 1, January 26, March 16 and May 4th.

Secure your child’s spot today! You can register in one of two ways:
1. 📝 Through ASP: Fill out a physical registration form directly through our After School Program coordinator, Judy Arsenault.
2. 💻 Online: Head over to the official CourtBloom Registration Portal to sign up digitally in just a few clicks. The Berlin after-school program is now live on courtbloom.org. Families can visit the site and filter by Berlin to find the program and register.

Give your child a fun, active, and confidence-boosting experience this season! This is open to K-5 students enrolled in ASP.

Courtbloom will also be visiting our PE classes during the daytime to provide instruction to all students who may not be enrolled in ASP. This is free and they provide all the equipment!

Through this program, we hope to provide your child with an exciting new experience and introduce them to a lifelong sport they can enjoy for years to come!

BES Picture Retake Day is November 3rd!

Picture Retake Day is for new students and staff members, transfer students, or for anyone who may have missed the initial picture day. Additionally, we welcome anyone who was unhappy with their original picture and would like to give it another try. Retake photos automatically replace original photos in school services and yearbook. If a student chooses to retake their photo, please have them return the original picture package to the photographer on picture day. We will replace it at no additional cost.

If this is the first time being photographed, just have the student/staff go to the camera and we’ll create a proof for them that will be sent to the school (and/or to their family email if we have that information). These proofs will be delivered approx. 4 weeks after picture day. An order code will be on the proof along with ordering instructions.

Weekly Recap October 9, 2026

Dear BES Families,

What a busy and exciting week at BES! We kicked off the week with a Mountie Monday Assembly that focused on playground etiquette and how to stay safe while having fun. On Tuesday, we hosted vision screenings for our students, and we extend a huge thank you to the Lion’s Club for sponsoring this important service. On Wednesday, our students absolutely loved the two interactive PSU TIGER theater performances, with a special morning session for K–2 students and an afternoon session for grades 3–5. The actors even left us a special stuffed animal friend, Tony the Tiger, who will be making the rounds to visit each classroom throughout the year to remind everyone to follow the Mountie Way! And Thursday marked the end of our annual Cherrydale fundraiser. Thank you all for your amazing support!

We also want to share a massive congratulations to Ms. Frizzell, Grade 1 teacher, who is October's recipient of Mountie the Moose! Ms. Frizzell was recognized for always going above and beyond to support her fellow colleagues, and we are so lucky to have her on our team.

On Friday, October 9th teachers throughout the district will be engaged in a full day of professional development workshops. BES teachers will be receiving additional NWEA training through a virtual meeting with two program representatives to better support student growth.

Looking ahead, there is no school on Monday, October 12th, in observance of Columbus Day. School will resume on Tuesday, October 13th, which also marks the official kickoff of our Scholastic Book Fair week! We invite all of our families to join us Tuesday evening starting at 4:30 PM for our special Book Fair Night.

Finally, we are thrilled to announce that we are bringing a new tennis program to BES through a partnership with CourtBloom Community, Inc. CourtBloom is a new fantastic New Hampshire-based nonprofit that makes tennis and physical activity accessible, fun, and inclusive. Through age-appropriate games and positive coaching, they help young players build coordination, confidence, and strong community connections—completely free of charge, with all equipment provided!

CourtBloom will be making special appearances in our PE classes throughout the year to encourage everyone to get involved, and they will also be launching sessions through our After-School Program (ASP). The first ASP session will take place on Tuesday, October 20th from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM . More information on how your child can sign up will be forthcoming. We are very excited to bring this program to BES!
