We are delighted to welcome Padma Dorje Maitland as the new Associate Director of UC Berkeley’s Institute for South Asia Studies!

Padma Dorje returns to Berkeley and ISAS with a wide-ranging background spanning curatorial practice, education, architectural conservation, and scholarship on South Asia. Most recently, he served as the Malavalli Family Foundation Associate Curator of Art of the Indian Subcontinent at the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco.

A Berkeley alum with doctorates in Architecture and South & Southeast Asian Studies, Padma Dorje has a long history with ISAS—and we are thrilled to welcome him back in this new role.
