Field Trip! Students enrolled in our Sound Design 1 recently toured the sound recording studios at Hyde Street Studios in San Francisco, where The Grateful Dead and many other legends have recorded. Then students were recorded by one of the sound engineers at Wally’s Hideout, one of the studios within Hyde St. The engineer even did a quick mix of their beats and spoken word, then let the students mix a bit as well! Shout out to instructor Marla Leech for this rich learning experience.

Sound Design 1 is offered at Berkeley City College Spring 2026 semester, Tuesdays 1:30-4:15 PM, with lab Thursdays 1:30-5:20 PM, and will be taught by award winning composer, multi-instrumentalist & sound designer Jacob Bloomfield Misrach.
