An impressive 70+ ref-curious folks joined us for our annual Referee Certification Seminar followed by The Bay Cup - Observational Edition.
Many thanks to NorCal division for sponsoring this event and continuing to prioritize Bay Area referee development and to Peter Burchard for presenting and mentoring.
Over 20 clubs were represented among the seminarians with big contingents from Halberstadt Fencers' Club, Fencing Club at UC Davis, and Massialas Foundation MTeam Fencing.
Looking forward to a strong up and coming cadre of local officials in the 23-24 season!

A busy Sunday for Westies. Silas takes FIRST in Y14 Men's Epee. Trisha & Liliya fenced their way into the top 8 of Y12 Women's Epee.
Camden & Theo fought their way into the top 16 of Y12 Men's event.

AFM Cup #1 - Youth 14 Men's Epee. Congratulations to the winners of this event! Andrew Chang and Ian Sim won the Bronze medals. Great job! Samyak Jain won the Silver! Wow! Congratulations to the medalists, their coaches, and their parents! Way to go!

Congratulations to Merik and Mark Pohl! Merik earned Silver at Modern Pentathlon Junior Nationals and Mark brought home the Gold in the Masters 60+ !

Merik also placed first in Fencing! Well done guys! Safe travels back home!

On this night, 10 years ago, the first bouts were fenced on West Berkeley's newly completed floor.
Charles Selberg, the inspiration and guiding mentor for the club, passed away that same night.
What a trying and joyous decade it has been and how lucky we are to fight our battles and celebrate our victories alongside the incredible community that's chosen to gather here.
Please raise a glass this evening to Charlie and to all the teachers who've helped you grow.
