Hi BUSA Members!!!!!

Granted that there will be the Ben Shapiro event this Thursday and perhaps the next BUSA will postpone further meeting until the following Thursday September 28,2017. Since security will be heavy throughout Sproul Plaza, Barrows Way and possibly on Bancroft Way, students may feel uncomfortable walking through campus from at least 4 PM - 9 PM due to the police presence.

Sorry for the inconvenience and I hope you have a good weekend. If you have any questions please let me know. We will be sending out emails for our following meeting so stay tuned!

Undergraduate Fellows Program | Center on the Politics of Development 08/14/2017

Here is an amazing paid, year-long fellowship opportunity!

Center on the Politics of Development
Undergraduate Fellows Program

Description:
The CPD Undergraduate Fellows Program is a year-long fellowship that offers a highly selective group of undergraduate students a unique opportunity to work closely with political science faculty and graduate students to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to study the politics of developing countries. In addition to working side-by-side with CPD research associates to conduct original research, fellows have the opportunity to attend workshops where scholars from UC Berkeley and other top universities present their projects. This gives fellows a unique insight into the theories and methods used by experts studying development. Fellows also have a chance to develop key research skills, like statistical programming and map-making, among others.

Application Instructions and Selection Process:
Applicants must submit a resume and cover letter to [email protected] in an email titled “Undergraduate Fellows Program Application.” An in-person interview will be scheduled in early September.

Eligibility:
Open to any UC Berkeley student who has completed at least one semester of study in residence at Berkeley. All majors are eligible and encouraged to apply.

Stipend Amount:
Students will receive a $1000 stipend distributed over two semesters; $500 in Fall 2017, $500 in Spring 2018.

Application Deadline:
Tuesday, September 5, 2017.

One of BUSA’s many goals is to provide opportunities for sociology students to explore academic and service interests while enriching their undergraduate experiences at Cal.
BUSA is highlighting campus events and opportunities every week!

Disabled persons are also underrepresented. This is a problem because those voices are not being adequately…
