The SCET Alumni Association is officially live. 🎉

Last Friday in San Francisco, we brought together builders from every era of SCET, from our founding cohort to this year’s newest grads, for the inaugural Alumni Association Kickoff Mixer. Founders. Investors. Engineers. Exceptional students. One room.

The centerpiece of the night: a live podcast taping with Cristina Cordova, COO of Linear 🎙️, on her experience building incredible products, how she selects opportunities and grows her teams, what it actually takes to build products and teams people love.

None of this happens without an incredible crew. Huge thanks to Jessica at Ashurst Perkins Coie for hosting us, Anika and Priya of Get the Check Podcast for bringing the conversation to life, Natalie, Founder @ Funding Breakthrough Lab, for helping make the night real, the UC Berkeley Sutardja Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology - SCET team Vicky, Thea, Keith, Jen and more, and Danica Tang who leads the SCET Alumni Founding Board pulling it all together.

This is day one for a community that’s been building for years. More to come. 🚀

Last Thursday, SCET Global Academics hosted the Fall 2026 Orientation, welcoming 33 international students to UC Berkeley.

Our incoming cohort joins us from SKEMA Business School (France), Tecnológico de Monterrey (Mexico), Ashesi University (Ghana), IE University (Spain), and the USP - Universidade de São Paulo (Brazil).

The Orientation was a chance for everyone to meet each other and learn about UC Berkeley policies and procedures. Director of Global Academic Programs, David Law, also lead the group in an exercise to prepare them for pitching and team formation.

We look forward to seeing the impactful ideas and global perspectives this group will bring to SCET community!

There’s a growing gap between talking about AI transformation and actually leading one.

“AI wishing” is expecting AI to solve difficult business problems without doing the organizational work underneath. “AI washing” is presenting pilots, tools, or announcements as evidence that transformation has already happened.

For leaders, the harder question is: How do you move from AI experimentation to real business value?

In our latest insight, we explore why organizations need to move beyond the hype and get more honest about what successful AI adoption actually requires. Read the full article: https://na2.hubs.ly/H07pntz0

08/17/2026

How do you turn AI from experimentation into measurable business value?

Join us on August 26 at 9 AM PT for a live information session about the UC Berkeley AI Leadership Accelerator, designed for senior leaders responsible for AI strategy, transformation, and innovation.

Hear from David Gallacher and Kristina Susac about how the program helps leaders make better decisions about where to invest, what to build, how to govern AI, and how to prepare their organizations for what’s next. We’ll introduce the program, walk through what to expect, and answer your questions live.

Register to join us next Wednesday.

Build your first startup from idea to pitch.

SCET Decal: SkyDeck – Startup Foundations is a 14-week, hands-on DeCal where students learn to identify problems, build products, validate ideas, and pitch like founders. Work alongside interdisciplinary teammates, learn from entrepreneurs and investors, and connect with mentors across Berkeley's startup ecosystem.

In partnership with Berkeley SkyDeck, every team pitches live at Demo Day hosted at the SkyDeck office. Winning teams have the opportunity to join SkyDeck's Pad-13 incubator program.

No startup experience required. Just bring your curiosity and ambition: https://na2.hubs.ly/H06Z9Zw0
