From Berkeley to a global audience, the Badè Museum is helping reshape how we engage the ancient world.
Earlier this spring, Aaron Brody shared how the Badè Museum has expanded access to archaeology and scholarship through the digital sphere. Since the pandemic, the Museum has hosted years of online talks exploring the ancient Mediterranean and Middle Eastern world through themes connected to today’s social justice conversations, including women and gender in antiquity, disability in the ancient world, ancient Nubia, and recovering silenced histories.
In fewer than six years, these talks have reached more than 50,000 viewers worldwide through the Museum’s YouTube channel, creating access to conversations and scholarship far beyond what traditional in-person programming could reach.
The Badè Museum continues to foster deeper understanding of the ancient Biblical world through preservation, research, interpretation, and public engagement.
Every donation, whether large or small, helps us bring more of the Badè Museum collection and scholarship to communities around the world.

What if consumer culture shapes not only what we buy, but how we see each other?
At this year’s Graduate Theological Union Conversation: Moral Imagination and the Economics of Consumption, Dr. EunHye Grace So explored how systems of consumption train us to value people according to usefulness, productivity, and visibility.
Drawing from Aristotle and Paul’s letter to the Galatians, Dr. So offered a powerful theological vision of community rooted not in competition or accumulation, but in interdependence, mutual care, and shared flourishing.
“An economy of consumption affects moral imagination by training persons to perceive the world through utility, exchange, and disposability.”
