First-Year Edge is a program to help you settle in, make friends, and take some courses early. But you need to act fast—deadlines are coming up quick! 🚗💨

🚨 Signup Deadlines:

Session D Deadline: Friday, July 17

Session E Deadline: Sunday, August 2

Get a Step Ahead: Choose from 600+ online or in-person courses (look for lower-division classes numbered 1–99) to fulfill prerequisites, major requirements, or breadth classes.

Discover Campus: Navigate UC Berkeley with confidence through exclusive orientations and workshops.

Build Your Network: Enjoy a quieter campus, connect with professors, and meet fellow incoming students at socials and events.

🛠️ How to Enroll:

Opt-in: Log into CalCentral and opt-in to the First-Year Edge program.

Wait 12 Hours: Let your system update and check your “My Academics” page to confirm your summer enrollment card is active.

Choose & Enroll: Pick your classes in CalCentral and secure your spot!

💡 Enrollment Tips:

Keep it balanced: Summer classes are fast-paced! We strongly advise taking no more than two courses.

Financial Aid: Planning to use financial aid? You must enroll in a minimum of 6 units to qualify.

Zero Program Fees: The First-Year Edge program itself is completely free. You only pay standard tuition and fees for the summer courses you choose to take.

Join us for an orientation webinar before Session E begins so you can hear updated announcements, important information regarding enrollment, Berkeley course expectations, and ways you can get involved with other students at UC Berkeley!

The presentation will be hosted by our Summer Sessions advisors who will help answer questions after a 30-minute presentation. For international students joining us from abroad, we will also present relevant information regarding your F-1 visa and maintaining your international student status.
