The Daily Californian is pleased to announce the 2026 class of inductees into our Hall of Fame! Join us on April 25 to celebrate distinguished alumni from our 155 years of news publishing history.

What was The Daily Cal up to 65 years ago? Check this out:

The front page headline simply read, “WE RESIGN.” On Oct. 24, 1960, the editors and staff of The Daily Californian declared they were quitting in response to “ridiculous and odious provisions approved by [ASUC] Executive Committee.” At issue was an attempt to give “final authority” over the “affairs, policies, and conduct” of The Daily Cal to the ASUC Executive Committee.

The paper was published the next day by volunteer staffers.

In typical Daily Cal fashion, we are giving you a tight deadline. This Sunday, Sept. 28, we are hosting two events we think you'll enjoy.
As part of our Bootcamp for new reporters, we're presenting a Roundtable on "Reporting Trump" at 1 p.m. It will feature such distinguished colleagues of yours as:

Following the Roundtable, at 2 p.m., we will have an informal mixer, where you can meet and greet the newest crop of young journalists at the Daily Cal.
The event will be held at the Daily Cal office, 2483 Hearst Ave., Berkeley, kitty-corner from North Gate Hall.
Please share this with other Daily Cal alums you know. It will be great to see some old(er) familiar faces.
