Dean Chemerinsky on rethinking the bar exam. He is for an open book exam because a closed book exam “stresses memorization, which is hardly the most important skill when determining who should be a lawyer.” Totally true. Ironically, I’m reminded how, in bar exam prep back in the day, Dean Chemerinsky delivered all his lectures without notes, one of the most impressive feats of memory I’ve ever seen.
