JMP student in action in Washington DC last month! Some highlights: meetings with Secretary of Health and Human Services Xavier Becerra and Assistant Secretary for Health Rachel Levine, a tour of the African American History and Culture Museum, and opportunities to share perspectives on health care policy during visits to the offices of our representatives in Congress. This trip illustrated how powerful physicians are in advancing health equity at a policy level, and we saw many examples of how practicing physicians can integrate that into their career paths.

Check out Didactics - a medical humanities publication that aims to elevate the voices of people in healthcare that have traditionally been marginalized or minoritized. Our very own volunteer faculty member Dr. Rebecca Lindsay's "Beach Walker" is featured in the first volume, linked here. Her artistic process embraces her own lived experience with serious illness and recovery, incorporating this into her art practice.
