Given the increasing pressure on Muslims in America to conform to Western values, come to learn about how our Muslim predecessors in Colonial times responded to Colonial Western values imposed upon them.
We will be extracting lessons from Allama Iqbal's (the famed late 19th/early 20th century Urdu scholar-poet) Message from the East (Piyam-e-Mashriq). So come ready to learn from our Muslim predecessors in their similar struggle!

InshaAllah our first session will be on the relationship with the self at Berkeley Masjid from 6-8 PM on Thursday, October 5th. We hope to see you all there! ✨

Congratulations to our newest Golden Bears! This Saturday, April 29th, Cal MSA will be holding an in-person New Student Admit Day for all newly admitted freshman and transfer students! 🥳
Utilize this opportunity to get your questions answered and have current Muslim students at Cal share their experiences and tips. We'll take you all on a tour of campus (including the 'Muslim' spaces) and take you out to eat too, InshaAllah! Details about where exactly we'll meet on campus will be shared closer to the event.
If you are unable to make it in-person, there will be a Zoom alternative hosted the next day: Sunday, April 30th from 10am-12pm, where we will provide more information regarding Cal and the Muslim community, share our own experiences, and answer any questions you all may have! Cal MSA Election Night is coming up, and you can check out the candidate profiles to make informed decisions at tinyurl.com/MSACandidateProfiles. Join us on March 9th at Berkeley Masjid to vote on who we as a community want as our Cal MSA Board next year!
We encourage you to vote for candidates on the basis of qualification, experience, and competency--regardless of gender or your own personal relationships and biases against the candidates. Read through the Candidate Profiles, attend Election Night, listen to candidate speeches, ask them appropriate questions, and make an informed vote.
As our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said,
