This is a great idea!
With school out and the gym closed it can be hard for your kids to get their energy out.
Staying active is very important to everyone’s mental and physical health. We want to help make this easier for you and your family.
Do the warm-up we do in Jiu-Jitsu class, your kid already knows them and can probably lead the whole family! Feel free to adjust them to work for your needs. You can take 5 minutes or half an hour.
Consider doing some of the drills outside, such as running, high knees and sideways sliding while traveling around the block. If you have a safe place, such as grass or a carpet, you can even add things like forward rolls and break falls.
Here are the standing ones
Run
High knees
Butt kickers
Slideways facing in
Slideways facing out
Red and blue jumping.
Run
Here are some grassy options:
Forward rolls
Backward rolls
Headfirst sh*****ng
Feet First sh*****ng
Sea Turtle
Break Falls “slap the mat”
Bear crawl

One Saturday the 29th of February we held another fundraising tournament for Martial Arts Training and Scholarships at our partner gym SBG Norcal. It was a huge success! We had over 20 adults compete in 5 different disciplines: boxing, kickboxing, Jiu jitsu with gis, Jiu Jitsu without gis, and pankration. Our competitors had a great time competing, learning and supporting MATS.
Our youth program also participated with a whopping 35 competitors. These kids, ranging from 5-12 years old, wrestled their hearts out in gi jiu jitsu. For most this was the first competition.
Not only was the tournament a big success for our competitors but also an important day for MATS. We raised over $2,500 from both the competition and a silent auction. We want to thank all the businesses, coaches, and SBG members who donated. We auctioned off private lessons, baby quilts, artwork, dessert, food at local restaurants, Great China and Royal Cafe and so much more! Thank you to everyone who came out to support us as we continue to strive to help more youth have access to martial arts.

SBG Kids party and MATS fundraiser Friday September 7th was a great success!
The kids had a lot of fun, got some great exercise and the chance to build stronger bonds of friendship.
And to top it off, we raised almost $300 for MATS!
Every penny earned goes to support youth and young adults in the East Bay through MATS.
Thanks to everyone involved!
