in Counseling Psychology provides an opportunity for you to obtain high quality graduate training, delivered in the context of the Wright's distinctive educational philosophy. A progressive sequence of courses presents the basic theoretical grounding required for solid counseling skills, and develops your capacity for self-reflective practice. In the second year, field training puts developing skills to work in a supervised setting, while coursework offers advanced theoretical and practical grounding, including the basics of research and psychological testing that reinforce informed professional practice. You will explore the impact of factors such as age, ethnicity, gender, socioeconomic status and sexual orientation on your clients' lives and the therapeutic relationship. You will think about each course in terms of its relevance to your development as a counselor. In this way, the master's program forms the basis for proficient, self-reflective practice. And you will be asked to increase the awareness of your interpersonal strengths and weaknesses as the basis for further professional development.
