Sacred Stream Sacred Stream is a nonprofit organization and school for consciousness studies based in Berkeley, CA. It also hosts a concert series and guest lectures series.

The Foundation of the Sacred Stream is a non-profit organization and school for consciousness studies dedicated to bringing the wisdom of ancient spiritual and healing traditions into the awareness of contemporary society. It was created on the basic principle that there is a common source of wisdom that underlies all authentic spiritual, cultural and artistic traditions that informs and enlivens them. And while each tradition may take a different form, like plants along a riverbank, each is sustained by the same source. Each workshop we create, each artist or guest teacher we host, and each resource we post on this website is offered to you with the intention of illuminating another way to deepen your own connection to this source, attain a broader perspective, and receive inspiration from it. The Foundation of the Sacred Stream offers a core set of workshops in Depth Hypnosis, Applied Shamanism, Applied Buddhist Psychology, Integrated Energy Medicine and Empowered Living. Past participants have included Dr. Robert Thurman, Geshe Thupten Jinpa, Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche, and Grammy nominees Barbara Higbie, Liz Story, and Jane Siberry. Through these programs, the Foundation seeks to make these traditions more accessible to the community and empower individuals, like you, to experience themselves and the world in new ways. The Foundation of the Sacred Stream was founded in 2002 and is located in Berkeley, California.

On Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we honor the wisdom, traditions, and living cultures of Indigenous peoples. May we continue to listen, learn, and deepen our respect for the people and traditions that have cared for the Earth across generations.

As we mark Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we celebrate the cultures, contributions and resilience of Indigenous communities across the United States.

Indigenous Peoples’ Day also serves as a critical day of reckoning – a recognition of the forced displacement of Indigenous Peoples from their land. As we confront the atrocities of settler colonialism and the injustices committed by European/U.S. colonizers, we must also work towards ending the systemic violence that Indigenous women continue to face today.

Today, on Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we honor the histories, cultures, traditions, languages, resilience, and enduring contributions of Indigenous peoples across the United States.

This day is also an opportunity to recognize that Indigenous history is not only a story of the past. Indigenous communities continue to shape our art, literature, education, environmental stewardship, culture, and collective understanding of the world today.

Dr. Maya Angelou understood the importance of knowing where we come from, preserving cultural memory, and allowing people to tell their own stories. Her life and work continually affirmed that our individual histories are part of a much larger human story.

Today, we make space to listen to and learn from Indigenous voices, writers, artists, educators, elders, and communities — and to honor the generations who have carried their histories, languages, and traditions forward.

May we continue to approach one another’s stories with curiosity, respect, and a willingness to listen.
