Hello fellow literature enthusiasts! Our Spring 2023 publication is officially published. You can access our digital copy:
https://ucbcluj.org/current-issue/.
This issue consists of three papers that highlight the connectedness of human, nature, and ideas. In “A WAVERING OF HER OWN: Virginia Woolf’s Feminine Writing in The Waves”, Emilia Barriga challenges the notions of "gendered writing", presenting how Woolf's writing is resonating with musicality and inhabited by fluid, egoless characters. In “QUEER DESIRE AS RESTORATION: The Rejection of Ph***ic Exchange in Christina Rossetti’s ‘Goblin Market'", Jolie Sukonik explores the intersection of queerness and the environment. In “FUNGI, FOLKLORE, AND FOREIGNNESS: Mushrooms as an image of otherness and hybrid existence in Olga Tokarczuk’s Dom dzienny, Dom nocny and Hiromi Goto’s Chorus of Mushrooms”, Natalia Bielecka examines how our understanding of mushrooms, or mycelium, can advance our understanding of literature, as well as our relationship to diverse forms of life.
We hope you enjoy reading these works just as much as we did!

We are pleased to announce the publication of the Fall 2022 issue of the Comparative Literature Undergraduate Journal!
In this issue, our published authors contribute three bold papers that look upon iconic literature and art to re-imagine the present and future: Julia Liu contrasts Gabriel Faure and Claude Debussy’s musical interpretations of Paul Verlaine’s poetry to argue that music and poetry are extensions of one another; Jennifer White weaves a vivid comparison of Ulysses with a contemporary novel to visualize the "stream" running through the written past and our virtual present; and Izzie Hackett grapples with the bleakness of postmodern parody in texts by Piglia and DeLillo and identifies how fictionalizing the past is a way to engage with the present.
Please read the issue at https://tinyurl.com/CLUJFall22Issue
Julia and Izzie presented their works at the CLUJ Panel that took place on April 15th. Please watch the recording at https://tinyurl.com/F22CLUJPanel.
