Has war and fascism been on your mind lately? It certainly was for C.S. Lewis and J.R.R Tolkien when they served on the Western Front in WWI. 1917 deeply impacted their lives, faith, theology. While at Cal, I had the privilege of assisting Grace Dyrness with San Francisco ‘83, a national urban conference led by the late Pete Hammond. Her husband Bill was president of New College Berkeley and I still refer to his Themes in Old Testament Theology to this day. Was a joy for Tina and me to finally reconnect with them this past weekend. Their passion for Christ and His purposes continues to inspire me.
