Students made the most of their Garden time during September, even as bouts of bad weather and air quality kept them inside. Indoors, the children were introduced to the fascinating science of seeds and what incredible diversity exists among them. Later, when fresh air and sun returned, the kids were back outside, treated to a first pick of their very own school-grown tomatoes, served up as a delicious treat with basil, honey and olive oil. In June we celebrate the beautifully diverse heritage of Caribbean Americans. Once again our stellar parent and staff volunteers were out greeting families as they arrived with a map of the Caribbean Islands, tropical juices and snacks!
The many Caribbean Islands are (mostly) located in the Caribbean Sea, and are divided into four main regions: the Lucayan Archipelago, the Greater Antilles, the Lesser Antilles and the ABC Islands. There are 13 sovereign states and 15 overseas territories in the Caribbean, and the predominant languages are English, Spanish, French, Dutch and Antillean Creole. The mainland countries of Belize, Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana are often included as Caribbean Islands due to their close ties with the region. The Caribbean community in the Bay Area may be small (just over 4,000) in comparison to places like Miami and New York City, but it is vibrant. All around the Bay Area, you can find a variety of different Caribbean restaurants, businesses, and cultural groups that promote and preserve the rich and diverse cultural and artistic traditions of different Caribbean countries. Why not check some out as you begin your summer vacation?!

🌈🎉🌈 Happy Pride Month from EB! 🌈🎉🌈
June 1st marked the beginning of LGBTQIA+ Pride Month, and the EB community is showing its support! Our amazing parent and staff volunteers were out greeting families as they arrived, spreading love and cheer with pride stickers and contagious ...dancing!
Pride Month holds great significance as a recognition of the Stonewall Uprising, a pivotal moment in LGBTQIA+ history. The Stonewall Inn in Greenwich Village, Manhattan, served as the birthplace of the modern LGBTQIA+ rights movement on June 28, 1969. Today, we celebrate Pride Month to uplift LGBTQIA+ voices, embrace LGBTQIA+ culture, and stand up for LGBTQIA+ rights.
EB is proud to be part of a community that values inclusivity and diversity. To our LGBTQIA+ community, we wish you a month filled with love, acceptance, and celebration. Bonne Fierté!
Check out the suggestions linked below from GLSEN on how you can make a difference. Together, we can create a more inclusive and accepting world.
❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
