Seeking Teaching Artist/Program Assistant for 2026-27

Luna seeks to hire an experienced Dance Teaching Artist to teach in our Early Childhood and Studio Lab programs (for kids 3-17). This position involves teaching part-time and administering programs part-time for a full-time (75-100%) position. Work hours include some mornings, afternoons, and weekends at a schedule that makes sense for the organization and employee.

Early Childhood Dance & Science Workshop
Sunday, February 22, 12-3pm, via Zoom

Children are part of the natural world, and can experience freedom and connection through outdoor creative and risk-taking play. Discover how dance can support children’s curiosity about nature, including life and earth sciences. Explore movement activities inspired by all they engage with and observe outdoors – sticks and rocks, mud and puddles, feathers and blossoms, and more! This workshop aligns with the Preschool and TK Learning Foundations and Creative Curriculum.

Now in its 24th year, Summer Institute (SI) is a nationally-acclaimed, year-long professional development experience that brings together teaching artists and education practitioners to activate and inspire individual and collective imaginations.
SI includes in-person intensives, Zoom sessions, and individualized coaching.
In-person dates at our Berkeley studio: July 13-17, January 16-17, May 22, 2027

Dr. Patricia Reedy, Luna Founder and Director of Creativity & Pedagogy, will facilitate a conversation about how we as teaching artists can assess the experiences and learning happening in our classes in ways that feel authentic and aligned with our goals and values.

Teaching Family Dance Workshop

Learn to facilitate relationship-enhancing dance lessons for people of all ages, with special focus on young children and their caregivers. This workshop is grounded in Luna’s decades of action research into Family Dance through our Moving Parents and Children Together (MPACT) program, which have clearly shown us that connection, trust, engagement, and empathy are strengthened between family members when they dance and create together.
Special bonus: Participants will be able to watch a livestreamed Family Dance class taught by Luna faculty that morning, 10-10:50am, to see concepts from the workshop in action!

Participants take a deep dive into child development, creativity and learning theories, and discover how to teach dance to all children through the lens of inclusion.
SI includes in-person intensives, Zoom sessions, and individualized coaching, and is offered at no cost for selected participants.
