BUILD mentors provide extra, individualized support to struggling readers so they can build the foundational reading skills needed to succeed in school. Being in October marks the month’s celebration of Filipino American History Month (FAHM)! This is a celebration in the first Filipino arrivals to the US in 1587. However, FAHM began around 1992 but wasn’t nationally recognized until 2009 by Congress. We are also still in Hispanic Heritage Month until the 15th. So please spend some time appreciating immigrants to this country and the diversity in our spaces !
