Applications for the Certificate in Climate Justice and Faith are due just one week from tomorrow! In this program you'll be part of a cohort of 8-12 people from around the world. Together, you'll learn about the science of climate change, develop a community of support, gain communication skills, and explore how your faith is calling you to address the climate crisis. At the end of the program, you'll put everything you've learned to use through a Sacred Action Project that helps further climate justice in your community. We are so proud of the graduating class of 2026! We celebrated 3 MDiv and 1 MA student graduating with a Concentration in Climate Justice and Faith, and 41 students who completed their Certificate in Climate Justice and Faith this year. Congratulations to all!

This weekend, congregants at Zoar Lutheran Church in Canby, Oregon planted a garden as part of Seminarian Katie Insalaco's internship project.
This Academic Year, we were delighted to send two MDiv students in the Concentration in Climate Justice and Faith out on a year-long internship with congregations. These students, Trevor Boe and Katie Insalaco, have spent the last three years integrating climate justice into their seminary experience. From attending the Bioneers Conference, to leading worship during the Season of Creation, to organizing climate justice-oriented Bible studies, to marching in the streets for Indigenous rights, these students have invested their time and energy in preparing themselves to be effective leaders for climate justice in their future ministries.
Through the Concentration in Climate Justice and Faith, Trevor and Katie are working with EcoFaith Recovery during their internship to design and implement a project focused on Climate Justice at their internship site. Read more about their projects here:

This program is designed for lay leaders and clergy members from around the world who want to be effective advocates for climate justice. Students will grow their faith, practice skills, gain knowledge, and build community to empower them to address the climate crisis.
This two-semester program will begin September 2026 and end May 2027. A 100% online curriculum allows students from around the world to build relationships through bi-monthly small group meetings on Zoom. Since launching in 2021, students from 29 countries and five continents have participated. The full cost of the program is $600. Scholarships of up to $550 are available if needed, please do not let finances prevent you from applying.

From April 28-29, 2026, the governments of Colombia and the Netherlands convened the First Conference on Transitioning Away from Fossil Fuels in Santa Marta, Colombia.
Rev. Dr. Neddy Astudillo, Coordinator of the Spanish-language Certificate in Climate Justice and Faith traveled to Santa Marta to represent the Latin American Faith for Climate Justice Network and the Center for Climate Justice and Faith at the Spirituality Gathering leading up to the conference.
Government Representatives from 57 countries, together. with Indigenous Peoples, Women, Youth and Children, Unions, Farmers, Fisherfolk, Scientists, Civil Society and sub-national actors attended this first in a series of conferences aimed to building a roadmap for a Transition away from fossil fuels.
