TW/CW: s*xual assault, s*xual violence, r**e
On this day, we at the Alpha Iota Chapter of Sigma Psi Zeta Sorority, Inc. at UC Berkeley wear jeans on Denim Day with a purpose to educate others about s*xual assault and violence and stand in solidarity with victims. Denim Day is a campaign that began after the Italian Supreme Court believed that the jeans of the 18 year old victim of r**e were too tight to be removed by someone else, so she must have consented to s*x by removing the jeans herself. This verdict led women to wear jeans in protest, picking up international media coverage.
There is no excuse to nor invitation for s*xual assault, s*xual violence, and r**e. It is never the victim’s fault.
