CPB has been very active throughout the summer benefitting in part from the Simons Observatory F2F meeting in San Diego which brought to Berkeley a number of visitors passing through Berkeley on the way to the deep South ... Whatever the reasons the brains (of CPB visitors: Elena, Nadia, and Josquin as well as of Berkeley locals: Akito, Hamza, Julian, Kevin and Adrian (remotely)) were clearly storming (and smoking ?!) on multiple occasions during many meetings in the N3AS meeting area as documented by Josquin in these images ... (Thanks a lot btw !)

The world should take a notice !

The SO F2F was a resounding success as well I hear btw !

Well, the first summer visitor, Ting - a PhD student from LPNHE, just arrived ! Ting will work with Berkeley's DESI team.
Other visitors are coming soon as the Center looks towards a very busy summer !

FACT-B: Impact of climate change on vineyards and winemaking 05/23/2022

Not really related directly to the Center but of potential interest and in Berkeley and sponsored by the French Embassy in the US and our own local Consulate in SF.

A key, hitherto overlooked impact of the climate change ?!

FACT-B: Impact of climate change on vineyards and winemaking In May 2022, the Embassies of France in the U.S. and Canada are pleased to hold a French Ameri-Can Climate on Biodiversity (FACT-B).

Well, the second group of visitors has just left and the center is strangely quiet today ! Not for long though !
Clearly at least some of the visitors enjoyed (or may be just really, really want to come back ?! Go figure ... 😉 ) !

A short but very fruitful visit of a director of a sister International Research Laboratory ILANCE set on the campus of the University of Tokyo and operates since the fall of the last year. Michel Gonin (ILANCE) stopped by CPB on Wednesday, April 6, providing an occasion for three way discussions between ILANCE, CPB, and N3AS. All the Centers share similar research objectives and the visit was a truly unique opportunity to exchange experiences and discuss some great ideas about future common actions.

Well, for those of you who were concerned about high prices of the airfares to Berkeley, fear NOT anymore ! A new Flixbus service Paris-Berkeley has been just opened ! Very affordable prices ! Note that the last stop in France is in Brest !
This is the maiden bus arrival caught on a camera ...

Fighting against a 'no play, and all work makes a student a dull person' syndrome ...

A farewell party for Baptiste and Simon, and a welcome part for Arianna, Magdy, Adrien, and Carlo. Overseen by nearly local, Hamza and Dominic ...

03/28/2022

And they have been closely followed by Carlo and Dominic who has come up from the unmentionable in the South Bay ! Obviously, Dominic could not avoid making point that it was him who design the Center's logo !

We do know that, Dominic !

03/28/2022

While Baptiste, Simon, and Clément pack their suitcases, getting ready to head home, Arianna and Magdy have just started their visit.
