Obituary for Corbyn Swartz Zittle
Corbyn Swartz Zittle, age 12, of Martinsburg, West Virginia, passed away unexpectedly on April 16, 2026. Born June 4, 2013, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Corbyn was a vibrant, loving, and gifted young man who touched the lives of all who knew him.
Corbyn was the beloved son of Gary Zittle and Arcee Clemens, and the cherished brother of his sister and legal guardian, Angela Zittle. He was also uncle and adopted brother to Avianna and Aaralyn Smith, loving brother to Sean Zittle, uncle to Sean’s daughter Adessa Zittle, and brother to sisters Natalia Clemens, Abby Erney, and Gracie Erney. He was the treasured grandson of his adoptive grandmother, Susan "Mimmie" Zittle, and maternal grandmother, Arlene Jones. Family was Corbyn’s foundation and greatest joy.
A seventh-grade student at Martinsburg South Middle School, Corbyn was an enthusiastic member of the WyldLife! club, where he built friendships and grew in his faith. He excelled academically, earning straight A’s, and was admired by teachers and classmates alike for his kindness and quiet strength. Corbyn’s friends and counselors described him as a “warrior of God”—an example to others for his compassion and courage.
Corbyn had a deep faith in Jesus Christ that shaped his character and guided his daily life. His trust in God was evident to those around him, and his faith was a source of comfort and hope for his family and friends.
Corbyn was an avid athlete, playing basketball and soccer with passion. He loved spending time with friends, especially playing video games and sharing laughter. Whether at school, on the field, or with family, Corbyn’s playful spirit and loving heart were always evident.
His journey was shaped by resilience and love. Seven years ago, his sister Angie adopted him when he needed family most. With her care, and the support of his father, her two daughters, siblings, and “Mimmie,” Corbyn flourished—discovering his potential, building dreams for the future, and learning what it means to be truly loved and stable.
Corbyn was an active part of Pikeside Church, attending Vacation Bible School, summer sports camps, and special activities with his sisters and nieces, Avianna and Aaralyn Smith. Though his time with us was far too short, Corbyn’s legacy lives on in the community, friendships, and faith he shared.
He is survived by his father, Gary Zittle; mother, Arcee Clemens; sister and legal guardian, Angela Zittle; her daughters (his nieces) Avianna and Aaralyn Smith; brother, Sean Zittle; sister, Natalia Clemens, her fiancé Angel Lugos, and their son Landon Lugos; sister, Abby Erney; sister, Gracie Erney; his adoptive grandmother, Susan “Mimmie” Zittle; maternal grandmother, Arlene Jones; and many extended family members, friends, teachers, and church family who will miss him dearly.
Visitation will be on Saturday, May 9th, 2026, at Pikeside Church, 25 Paynes Ford Road, Martinsburg, WV 25405, beginning at 10:30 AM, with a service to celebrate Corbyn’s life at 12:00 Noon, led by Pastor Bill Ball. All who knew and loved Corbyn are invited to attend and honor his remarkable spirit.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you remember Corbyn by showing extra kindness, cherishing your loved ones, and lifting all children in prayer. Memorial contributions can be made to the Pikeside VBS Program at www.pikesideumc.org or Pikeside VBS 25 Paynes Ford Road, Martinsburg WV 25405.
