Sorry about being laid on this post. But the club had a great tournament at four locks last Sunday. Most of the boats brought fish back to the weigh in! We weighed in fish in two divisions, the juniors and seniors.

For the juniors: Congrats go to Jeremiah Younker and Lane Exline took third with Captain Carl Smith and 1 fish weighing 14 ozs. Brady Myers took second with Captain Bill Muray with 1 fish weighing 3lbs 1oz. Eli Wiles and Dylan Beard took first with Captain Norman Smith with 4 fish weighing 5lbs 10 ozs.

For the seniors: Takoda Mathews and Josh Morgan took third with Captain Steve Mathews with 1 fish weighing 2lbs 15 oz. Layton Winneberger and Thurmond Moss took 2nd. with Captain Chris Williams had 2 fish weighing 3 lbs. 11 ozs. Brady Poole took the win with Captain Skeeter Canoles with 3 fish weighing 4lbs 3 ozs.

The Berkeley Springs High School Fishing Club is having a fundraiser this September for one of our own. Layton Winneberger was involved in a terrible traffic accident a couple of months ago and his family could use some help with medical expenses.

Thanks to Morgan County Parks and Recreation. Great grand opening at the South Morgan Fishing Hole. We were happy to give out lots of baits to new fisherman.

The Berkeley Springs High School Fishing Club is looking forward to attending this great event. We will be there with bait giveaways for kids and have some club members there to help with fishing. We hope that lots of people in our great community make it out to this event.

This past Sunday we had a great tournament on the river at big Slackwater. The fish were biting that day for sure. Huge thank you to all the captains that take all these kids out Fishing on these tournaments and volunteering their time.

Third place was had by Jeremiah Younke and Lane Exline with Captain Carl Smith catching 3 lbs. 1 oz. Second place was had by Brady Poole and Everett Griest with Captain Skeeter Canoles catching a 5lbs. 4 oz. limit. And the big win goes to Avery Rider and Dylan Beard with Captain Mutch Yost, catching a 6 lbs. 6 oz. limit.

The Club is proud of each and everyone of the fisherman and fisherwoman that fished this tournament.

Last Sunday (6/28) the club went to Jennings Randolph Lake for our second tournament of the year. It rained on us most of the day, but these kids stuck through it and fished all day. Cannon Yost and Dylan Beard with Captain Mutch Yost snagged 3rd place with a 1lb 9oz fish. Takoda Mathews with Captain Steve Mathews took 2nd with 2 fish weighing 2 lbs 2 oz. Avery Rider and Hunter Cockrell with Craig Cockrell took the win with a limit of fish weighing 7lbs. 6ozs.

Thank you Seely foundation for your generous grant to the Berkeley Springs High School Fishing Club. We will use it to support all the tournaments we have coming up for the kids.

Very late on this post but we had a great weekend May 16th and 17th. On May 16th we attended Cacapon State Park’s youth trout derby. It was very well attended and fun was had by all.

May 17th we had our panfish tournament up at Rocky Gap. It was a great time and Captain Norman “Smitty” Smith set a new club record with his kids Eli Wiles (a new angler) and Dylan Beard. 24 lbs of Bluegill
