Ironwood Area Schools Celebrates Our 2026

"I Love to Read" Bookmark Contest Winners!

Congratulations to the winners of this year's I Love to Read Month Bookmark Contest, sponsored by Literacy Coaches Sara Sivula and Shelly Trier!

Students and staff were challenged to create a bookmark based on the theme "Read Every Day," and the creativity on display was incredible.

The Gogebic-Ontonagon Intermediate School District (GOISD) seeks a collaborative, student-focused educational leader to serve as Principal of Center-Based Special Education Programs.

This full-time administrative role offers a unique opportunity to shape and lead programs that support students with significant disabilities across our region.

The GOISD would like to congratulate Olivia Vandenburg, recipient of the Christine Evelyn Maki Lukach Nursing Scholarship in the amount of $500.00.

This scholarship was established by Christine’s family and friends following her battle with Alzheimer’s Disease and her passing in July of 2023. Christine was a Registered Nurse who loved teaching students about the profession she was so passionate about. Her dedication to nursing and education continues to inspire future healthcare professionals through this scholarship.

Olivia is a graduate of our CTE Nursing Assistant program and has also completed her LPN training at Gogebic Community College. She plans to continue her education and earn her RN degree.

Congratulations, Olivia! We are proud of your hard work, dedication, and commitment to the nursing profession, and we wish you continued success in your future career.
