If you want to improve your English in a supportive, interactive class, this is for you. You'll practice your skills with people who want to see you grow, in a space built for learning.

The course is free. It's online. And it's open to Afghan students anywhere, including girls inside Afghanistan who've been shut out of school.

For five years, the Taliban have kept Afghan women and girls out of schools and out of jobs. This week in Herat, they went further. More than 30 women were arrested off the street over how they were dressed. When people came out to protest, the Taliban opened fire. At least one person was killed and several were wounded.

Their only "crime" was wanting to study, work, and walk through their own city.

We at Afghan Scholars Academy condemn this in its entirety. The girls we work with are watching their futures stripped away one rule at a time, and now even stepping outside has become dangerous.

The world has not been fully silent. The UN and human rights groups have raised concerns. But concern is not enough. We have heard statements. We have not seen action. Five years of bans, then beatings, now gunfire, and the answer is still words.

Afghan women should not have to bleed to be treated as human. We stand with them, and we are asking you not to look away.
