Founded in 2007, Grow Benzie is a non-profit community center located in rural Benzie County.
Grow Benzie incubates prosperity by providing affordable, mission-driven services and physical infrastructure to help local nonprofits, entrepreneurs, and small businesses thrive. Formerly a commercial nursery with three 5,000 sqft hoophouses, a 3,200 sqft ranch house, and a 6,500 sqft retail building- we now have dozens of partners utilizing our campus for year-round public events: potlucks and
concerts, classes and workshops including gardening (in our hoop houses), culinary and nutrition (in our commercial kitchen), sewing and knitting (in our sewing studio), and a weekly farmers market (in our community center and picnic area).

What happens when 1st graders visit a community campus full of gardens, bees, food, and their own shovels? 🌱🐝🍅
Today we welcomed students from Reeths-Puffer Schools to Grow Benzie for a hands-on field trip experience around the campus.
The students explored:

🐝 The Bee Hives
🏡 The Hoop Houses
🧵 The Fibershed
🥕 The Community Garden
🍽 The Incubator Kitchen
🎶 The Event Center
And to finish the day, they planted their own plants in the Community Garden! 🌱

sustainability, and community in a hands-on way.

From overgrown to ready for summer

Our last Work Bee crew put in the work - clearing out one of the hoop houses and completely transforming the space. This is what community effort looks like.
Now we’re getting ready for even more… 👀
We’re planning a summer kickoff event with live music inside the hoop houses, and there’s still plenty to do to get the campus ready.
